New Kitchen Quote from Moben

Options
hey guys

I've got an old style kitchen which needs to be completely removed and a new kitchen fitted with appliances. I had a nice lady from Moben come round to take a look and she said the whole job would take about 5-6 days and cost £12k to 15k.

Now that seems quite a lot to me. The kitchen is 2.3m wide by 3.4m, so not the biggest kitchen in the world. Can anyone recommend any companies which would be ..... well... slightly cheaper? lol

thanks
Andy

Moben were the most expensive quote for us (although very nice). They don't have great reviews actually but guy who came round to us was fab.
We have not completely decided on which company to go with, altho 10k quote from moben has come down to 5 - 7k depending on units and who fits them. Qualitywise they seem as good or better.
I think a local kitchen fitter (esp if you can get one recomended) has worked out the cheapest quote for us, with kitchen from Howdens.

hmmmm I think I will keep looking for a local fitter
  • Moben fitted kitchen?

It will be a flat pack cheapo job, with more than likely a foil wrap door if wood effect. Usually cheap appliances.

Our neighbours who have exactly the same size kitchen as us paid £8k eight years ago for a Moben kitchen and it looks decidedly shabby now. We paid £4k from a local tradesman, with rigid units, solid maple doors and Neff appliances. Ours still looks as good today as the day it was installed.

And a commission only salesman that will earn between 20-30% of the price!!

    Thats way too much!
Get a local trades man in to fit your kitchen, ask your tradesman who to go to to supply (He will have a merchant he prefers).
Your price will depend on if you get flat pack ( this will take more time to build) or rigid and what kind of doors you go for.
Remember if you are paying for the kitchen yourself (paying kitchen and fitter separately) haggle for the price especially if towards the end of the month.

Appliance wise, remember that electrolux make Zanussi and AEG. Many manufacturers make more than one name of appliance.
Also scour the internet for your appliances too, your kitchen supplier may match the price you find.
    That mrs macchicken to you!

    hey guys

I've decided to do the kitchen myself... well mostly :j but all in all, I should save atleast £7k to £10k from the Moben quote surely

I've already started to rip the old kitchen out and am now looking for some units and appliances that look nice. I'll have to draft the plans on AutoCAD which I use daily at work. Then we'll see about getting it ordered and fitted. I have an electrician at hand to do the wiring and I'll have to get a plumber in to move the sink.

Not sure I'm all too confident with tiling...... how hard can it be?

    I'll keep you updated

Moben? Don't do it! Google Moben, Kitchens Direct, Sharps and Dolphin for some interesting reviews.
