    Hello everyone,

I found this forum after being offered a deal by Virgin and checking to see if it was any good or not!

This was the deal I have been offered.

XL TV (Including Sky Sports Package)
    L Broadband
    M Phone

    500GB TiVo
    V+ box Upstairs

£69.50 per month and a (£49.99 fee for TiVo box)

Please, please can people tell me if this is a good deal for me, or whether others have got better!

Thank you very much in advance.

    Andy.

I would check that includes line rental - as thats a significant discount it seems...

If it helps, Im currently paying £73 for XL TV with skysports, M broadband and M phone. No extras..just one basic V box. But then again, thats why Ive given notice ......
  • Thanks for replies.

To be fair I am quite happy with the deal they have offered but obviously I want to hold out for the best deal possible.

They said for an extra £1 a month they will upgrade me to 20 MG broadband. I don't know if I need 20Mg though!!!

If I cancel...and wait for an offer from retentions...do I risk losing the offer that they have given me???
  • Anybody please?

I've been a Virgin customer for just over a year now. I had 10mb 'L' Broadband and 'M' phone plus line rental package totalling £27.40. I called and asked them to cancel the service citing the £20 offer by Sky (my TV provider) for 20mb unlimited broadband/phone/line rental. They agreed to match this and also offered a free upgrade to 30mb broadband, all for a total of £21.40 incl. line rental, which I accepted.

The upgrade went ahead as planned and the engineer came and installed the new SuperHub router. Then, I found out that they had charged me an 'activation fee' of £30 (which was not mentioned at the time of upgrade) and the new package cost was £26.40 instead of the promised £21.40.

I called up Virgin and they agreed to waive off the £30 charge straightaway but only offered £2 off from the £26.40 package price as a 'goodwill gesture' insisting that the offer given to me might be a mistake!

I sent off an email to the CEO and received a call from Virgin Executive Office within half an hour and the nice lady apologised and changed my package to the £21.40 originally offered. All in all, happy now, but feel that this could have been entirely avoided in the first place. My advice - always insist on a paper contract when you receive a deal from Virgin just to be on the safe side! :)
  • Hello all,

Just in the process of reducing my overall cost. I think I already get a pretty decent deal (having negotiated down in the past).

    I get free V+ subscription (1 box)
    L Broadband
    XL Tv
    M Phone
    for £53.49 (I get a £13 discount)

Thinking that I don't need the XL package anymore (as TV is rubbish). Broadband is up to 10 meg and can't complain at the speeds. BT can give me a similar deal for about £32 (free phone installation, essential TV, vision+ box)but with 20meg bb. Think I might change
  • Im furious with Virgin Media. I cancelled my account then agreed with the 'Outbound' team that i would stay with the following offer

    Phone,
    Lrg Broadband
    TV Size M
    Virgin HD box.

    All for £18 per month

Then I get my bill and im suddenly paying £33.90 per month!!!!!!
I rang to query this and virgin deny ever making this offer.

I have given notice just in time before the cooling off period ran out. I will not be using virgin again

according to 'which' the Tivo boxes use a vert large amount of power!
  • Hi guys, need a little help as I'm not well up on this. Got my dads bill here, which is coming in at about £95 a month! Obviously this is a lot and we ened it to come down, so any advice would be welcome.

Firstly, our tv is not hd and we don't want or need it. Secondly, we're mad for football so probably need all the sports. Here's the bill:

    Telephone line rental - 12.24
    Talk unlimited - 8.00
    TV Size XL - 25.00
    V+ HD Box 0.00
    Broadband Size L 25.25
    Paper bill charge 1.25
    Sprots 1, sports 2 22.50

Now obviously the paper bill charge can be slashed right away, but I'd have thought with us having tv, internet and phone that we might be able to get a better deal, we've also just got wi-fi, can anyone advise?
  • I've just called Virgin and spoken to retentions. They have offered me M+ TV, M Broadband and evening and weekend phonecalls for £32.90. Because I've also requested a Tivo box there's a £3 per month charge included in the fee and a one off payment of £49.99.

They are installing for free and the bills don't increase until it's installed. I also have a right to cancel within the 30 days following installation and return to my original package should I choose. I was paying £28.40 for M TV, M Broadband and weekend calls only so I don't think that the £1.50 per month increase for M+ tv is worth worrying about.

    Hope it helps someone.
