I spent about 30 minutes doing a deal with retentions.
XL broadband 20mb
XL phone
M+ TV
V+ HD box for £39.99, I was paying £51.99.
Next bill they charged me £41.99 and reduced my broadband to L 10mb.
I wasn't happy so I cancelled again, they rang me just about every day. I refused at £36.99 and eventually I got the same deal for £34.99 with a new Superhub thrown in.
I'm waiting to see if they get that right this month.
I think the best deals are to be had if you hold your nerve, don't accept the first offer they give you, they will improve it to keep you.
You can always phone them a couple of days before the cancellation date and accept their best offer if you decide to stay with them.
i think we were all happier when we had 3 channels, a children's hour and a test card with music to watch, life was much simpler. maybe I'm showing my age!0 -

Has anyone managed to get a reduction on this?
I cancelled and got a call from them after 23 days!
I have now got
BB L (10MB)
Phone XL
TV M+
2 X HD + Boxes
£26 pm on 18 months contract.0 -
I got a call after giving my notice and accepted
2 V+ boxes
XL TV
20 meg BB with new supa hub
unlim calls 24/7
all for £45.50 inc line rental
not too bad, as i was paying £62 with only 1 V+ and 1 normal box and 10 meg bb
What do you think ?0 -
Finally, I decided to stick with VM...because of the hassle of changing the phone number, etc....
I got several calls from the retentions team until the last offer
Phone L
BB L
£14.99/mth
it might not be the best deal out there but it's a decent discount from the original £26.49/mth
i agree with the others... just be patient and take your time...
i'll try again next time near end of contract0 -
**Update**
Just got a call from Retentions...
Telephone Line Rental
Talk Unlimited £8
TV Size: XL £26
TIVO Box plus Free Install
1 Additional V Box
Sky Sports (Not sure if it's all 3 or just Sky Sports 1)
Broadband Size: 20mb with Super Hub (That you would normally get with 30mb BB)
£55.55 + Plus One off Admin fee of £25
Im getting more compared to what i was getting before (No BB20mb, no Tivo Box, No Super Hub, No Sky Sports)
I should be receiving something in the post and a new install of the TIVO box next week
Lets hope i don't get a call back to say they can't supply what they have promised

Is that all you pay? 14.99 including line rental?0 -
I cancelled two weeks ago, as I could no longer afford the £73 basic charge I was paying. (XL tv with Skysports, m BB, M phone). I've been with Virgin for 5 years and felt, after reading this thread, that maybe it was time to haggle a better deal. I rang them, and the only suggestion was that I decreased the TV package. I rang and cancelled, and two days later got a call from retentions, asking why I was leaving Virgin. I quoted sky deals, mentioned that we only have a basic V box, (not the HD it says on my account), and the fact that to use our laptop, we even need to buy a pay as you go dongle! I also queried the fact that I pay £21-25 for BB, which is almost 4 times that of a new customer. I also reminded them that I also have a mobile with Virgin, so in effect they get a minimum of £100 a month from me. I got offered nothing, except a suggestion that I go with Sky, and come back in 18 months as a new customer! It makes me puzzled to see the offers that other people have been given. Im really not a greedy person, I'd have been happy with a V+ box, or a router and /or maybe a small discount. I asked if I could have anything at all, and the guy said, although he'd love to keep me as a customer, there was absolutely no deal on the table. Where am I going wrong??? And are they likely to ring me again in the remaining two weeks before disconnection?0

Hello everyone,
I found this forum after being offered a deal by Virgin and checking to see if it was any good or not!
This was the deal I have been offered.
XL TV (Including Sky Sports Package)
L Broadband
M Phone
500GB TiVo
V+ box Upstairs
£69.50 per month and a (£49.99 fee for TiVo box)
Please, please can people tell me if this is a good deal for me, or whether others have got better!
Thank you very much in advance.
