Sorry to hear about your sister 3. You are really not having much luck with doctors at the moment. Have you done something to p them off in a past life!? Hope you get it sorted anyway.
And good news that you have your appt through at least. Hopefully it flies in.
Now take a deep breat and calm yourself down and have some lunch. You can only do so much. x

Heeellloooooooo fellow pregnant ladies :hello: how are you all doing. Anyone due in September must be getting excited/scared/nervous/expectant around now :D

I have 9 weeks to go and feel I should be doing stuff. I had an email from Bounty or someone saying "You are 31 weeks have you done your birth plan?" Umm...no should I be? I surely need to go to antenatal classes to learn about the different pain relief first???

What about packing a bag, should I start putting stuff together - because realistically baby could come out at any time - not sure it will stick to 1st November (even though daddy has booked the slot between 3 and 5 on the 1st Nov - after the F1 and before tea !!!)

I am not really worried about these things just wondering out loud.

Also that wrap by M&P that Gymfiend (welcome by the way) put on yesterday looks gorgeous - it is expensive but I got given some money for my birthday that is just sitting around.............
Tegan Lily arrived 4 November 2009 (3 days late)

Floyd Peter arrived 9th July 2011 (1 day early) :D

Aww, that sounds gorgeous. Not decided what to use as going home outfit yet! Not like we are going to get papped on the way out of the hospital or anything, but I suppose they should look nice for their first outing!! ha ha.

Maybe this from M&Ps as it's lovely and soft and was the first thing I bought for baby? Or also have a nice white velour John Rocha sleepsuit. And I suppose it depends how cold it is, but my mum bought us a lovely pram suit from M&S (but think it might be better on a very cold day!). I can't wait lol.

That outfit is so cute. Once mie's dry I'll take a picture of it and post it later

Karen - I was told not to do birth plan til parentcraft and then MW at parentcraft said 'Don't bother, it won't get followed anyway'
OH knows what I want and I'll just put it somewhere in my notes and as my new friend said yesterday 'God Help them if they try and mess with you' :rotfl:

3 - was it a GP appointment for your sister?

At Parentcraft, they said my hospital's policy was to put the baby straight on to the mother's chest before cutting the cord or anything so it's instant skin to skin, so I suppose I am happy enough with that. From what we have been told, they will do standard practice unless you specify otherwise, so no harm in noting down any preferences and ensuring your OH knows where it is and you show it to the midwife early enough.

I don't have many definite ideas so happy to go with the flow and trust in what they think is best, but anything I think I might prefer, I will put down. Is there a birth plan section in your notes? Mine has that (I assumed they were all the same, but not sure as things seem to differ so much in different areas!).

Has anyone used breast pumps before? I know there is the manual TT one in the Asda event which is a good price and tempting, but other people swear by the electric Medula one (think it was Mrs T) which is more expensive but she felt it was worth the extra. Any recommendations?

    :hello:

With the first 3 I had the avent manual pump - which was ok but then I didn't need to express milk that often. The thing with manual pumps that I found was that you needed 2 hands *lol*

I had to run out on Sunday as the avent was long gone I had a quick google before I left and was going for either the medela mini electric or the swing... depending on what the shops had. tbh I got to boots (only shop that had any) and the thought of parting with £80odd was too much (I had £71 on my boots card) so I picked up the mini electric and used my points...

I have been using it with no problems - the main thing for me was that I would only need 1 hand to use it so it needed to be electric/battery powered. I can feedd3 and use the pump at the same time if need be.

Re b/f glam brought up a really vaild point about the second night *cue memories of me in tears with dd1 pleading with her to feed or sleep* it does get better - once we got over those first few days it was relativly plain sailing for the next 6 months...

Another thing is when they are weighed after the 1st week - it is normal for them to have lost weight I think 10% is withing the acceptable range (dd3 has lost 5%)

Sorry if this is tmi - but just incase there is someone there who is in the same position - I have 1 inverted nipple - dd3 will not/cannot be bothered feeding from it atm (which is why I am expressing from this side - in the hope that she will come round to the idea soon) I have tried all the little gadgets that you get but she will latch on get bored and start rooting for the other side  by which time it has gone back into hiding :o all of my little people were the same but they would take from it to start with. With dd2 I took the decision to stop getting myself stressed about trying to get her to feed from the inverted side after a few weeks and fed her from the one side. I only stopped because the little madam started to bite me (and even though I kept on detaching her when she did - it got to the point I couldn't take it any more!) although this was 3 weeks before she turned 1 so she went straight onto cows milk. ds1 had really bad reflux which didn't go until he was 12mths+ I bf him for the first 6 weeks but tbh spending an hour feeding him only to have it all thrown back over you andhen him be really hungry again was very hard work especially with another toddler so I started mixed feeding with formula and then he went on to formula exclusivly at 4mths. btw the formula didn't help with the reflux like the hv said it would...

At the end of the day a happy mum = a happy baby you just need to do what is right for you and your lo.

*easy labour vibes* for Fitzillan :j

Quick question regarding RLT has anyone elses wee turned a shade of pink not bright pink you can just see a slight tinge when wiping looks normal colour in te toilet ??

Sound a bit strange Lolly, are you sure it's your wee and not coming from elsewhere?

On the baby towels - I have two hudded ones, one from my BIL and one from my mum that she used on me and my sisters when we were babies :D She also is going to give me a shawl to take Noogle home in that me and my sisters were all taken home in but I have to wait until my older sister is finished with it first - she is due today!

Got loads of notes for my birth plan but haven't written them up yet. Probably wont be read or followed but it's good to have a think about and get your head around what might happen.
