On breast feeding i will try again but i will make sure hubby knows to ask for formula if the baby has gone without for too long and i am not well after the section. I didn't come out of recovery for over 6 hours when i had ds as i don't react well to anesthetic. Then i was being sick all the time for a few hours after i came around. I was still knocked out and they were milking me by hand  they were that desperate for me to fed, so hubby tells me. How embarrassing i am glad i wasn't aware of it. They are very anti bottle at my hospital. They tried everything even the electric pump didn't produce any milk and they had to give in and feed him from a spoon. As i was on a cocktail of tabs my doc said i couldn't breast feed anyway so fingers crossed it will be different this time, but i won't be beating myself up if i can't.This is my signature!0

morning ladies...
way too early to be up, but as my waters broke i'm too excited to sleep...!!!
waters went at 10.50 last night and went in for monitoring as soon as my brother arrived to look after the dogs... got back from the midwife unit about 2am and managed 2 hours sleep...
was sat in dark on own for an hour, but thought i'd let you know whats happening, keep me occupied until a more decent hour when i can wake mum...
'contractions' feel like really bad period cramp at mo... roughly 8 mins apart... which is just long enough to start feeling sleepy and then be woken up again trying to remember to breathe through instead of holding my breath!
if nothing progresses any more than this i'm back in for monitoring at 2.45 this afternoon... seems like forever away and i'm hoping it'll have kicked off by then!
could not believe the amount of fluid thats come out... its pretty much stopped now, but went through about 3 pairs of pj bottoms, undies and at least 7 maternity pads (they're absolutely no good when you gush as you move)
anyway... will stop typing now... already had TMI for first thing in the morning..!!
will keep updated as much as poss...
not long til Alfie is here!!!!! eeeekkkk...... ouch!:male:Alfie Sidney born 29th August 2009:male:0 -

Ooooo, how exciting!!! :j Good luck for today, hope everything runs as smoothly as it possible can!
Sending lots of 'easy labour vibes' your way! Try and rest between contractions when they're as far apart before they ramp up and you have no chance!0 -
Ooh Fitzillian, how exciting! I'd be feeling so impatient if I was you! Fingers crossed for a nice swift eviction for Alfie and that you'll be back on here posting pics for us soon.
Sami- thanks for the info on the Asda Baby Event. Not too far away then.
I feel so much more human for getting up at 7am instead of 5:15am today. It is amazing how much difference that extra couple of hours has made. Hopefully I won't be a complete tired wreck by the end of the day today, for a change.:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0 -
Good luck, Fitzw!
My maternity leave starts here. Well, I've got 2 weeks hols first. Think I'm going to need the extra rest, sleep is really erratic at the mo.
Not much else to report so I'm gonna read what I've missed the last few pages.

Hello!
Just popping back in for a nosey. On the BF front I was adament that I didnt want to use formula, but things never seem to follow a set plan with a newborn lol. 48 hours after my Csection I was discharged after Midwives telling me I was latching brilliantly "a natural" and that my milk would come in shortly.
From the moment I got home on the friday I spent all of my time trying to feed Isabella, but she never seemed to get enough. Monday morning the Midwife visited and weighed Isabella who had dropped from 10lb03oz to 8lb12oz. So having had only 3-4 hours sleep all weekend I was distraught, and we were sent back to hospital.
The Dr's said she was well hydrated, so they advised me to top up with formula to quench her hunger as well as express to see how much I was producing. Isabella slept straight after the formula, and I slept as soon as expressing machine had finished.... I had only produced 10ml combined from both sides. The Dr decided that Isabella would need a care plan, basically I was to BF then FF and express to up my supply. We spent 5 days in Hospital working this pattern.
My midwife put me in touch with my local Baby cafe, lots of women who breast feed their babies, and almost everyone I spoke to had experienced something different. I would recommend to anyone struggling, search out you nearest babycafe and go along for a chat.
In all honesty by 12 weeks I was getting frustrated, but then again I am not very patient with myself. I had increased my supply from 10ml to 70ml, but Isabella had needed more and more formula. So rather than getting wound up with myself I switched to formula only. My HV did say that I was going to find it hard as big babies tend to have big appetites. When I have my next baby (planning already:o) I will try again to BF, this experience has not put me off. It has just taught me that when you have a baby you just have to take the rough with the smooth and give yourself time to adjust.
Sorry for that just thought I should share. That said my mate has just had her baby (Matthew 8lb14oz) and is breast feeding like a natural even though she wasnt sure she wanted to lol. ho hum.DS1 arrived 22/02/11! 8lb3oz

Hi ladies,
Gonna come out of hiding now and ask to be put on the listHad my 12 week scan on Tuesday and looked bang on for dates, so our little one should be making an appearance on March 9th!
Kindof - those pics are lovely, ours are a bit weird as you can't see any leg, I actually asked the sonographer to clarify that there were two legs, so she turned it around somehow to show me!!!
On the buying front, I've probably been a bit naughty! Got a couple of grobags when they were cheap in Tesco's the other day, plus goodness knows how many packs of newborn nappies (they were reduced in a local Sainsburys from £4 odd to 97p - my mum went mad, we've enough to sort out quadruplets never mind my one!). Then after the scan OH and I went to Mothercare and bought baby a present each, he picked a little sheep teddy and I picked a gorgeous Myleene Klass romper, it's lovelyOoh and a pack of bibs...that's it though, no more buying til we hit 20 weeks..or so I say now anyway!!
I know this might seem a silly question but wondering if anyone else felt so unsure early on too...the midwife's asked me a couple of times about breastfeeding, and I said I don't think I want to. Now, the reason for it is that I've recently lost a contract I was working on so money's tight, I'm job hunting at the minute but think I won't be able to take off more than 6-8 weeks after the baby arrives, so didn't want to start breastfeeding just to switch to bottles so quick iykwim? The midwife made me feel really awful about it, as if I was starving my baby of a good start in life...does anyone else feel like this, guilty for thinking about bottle feeding?Hope I don't sound horrid!
ThanksI love the little legs, when we first saw babybean s/he was wiggling their legs sooo cute lol
I feel pressurised into breastfeeding by OH and MIL to be honest, OH thinks its fabulous as he was, and MIL thinks its fab cos she did it, on the other hand my mam tried to do it and neither me nor my brother would latch, and mam didnt really get much help in doing it so we bottle fed.
I am coming around to the idea of breastfeeding though and I am going to give it a try, I have warned OH though that not everyone can breastfeed that wants too, sometimes the baby won't do it
SJ - your bump is lovely!!!!! Yeah I did too lol there was a single tear rolling down my cheek, it was such an amazing experience!
Where is this 5 year old mother?
Wow GISI they are so nice, and a lovely price lol
Thanks Fitzioit was amzaing
About the Size 1 nappies, what weight are they for? cos what if your baby skips Size 1 altogether lol I dont know if that is possible lol
