luckily my weekly checks are at my own GP surgery. if we have to go to the hospital, its £1.70 for upto 4 hours
This was something that was getting to me the thought of paying for the parking at my hospital(starts at £1.80) but luckily as my mum is at the diabetic clinic that is right next to maternity i know where to park for free if early appointment or 60p for two hrs if late near visiting. Not looking forward to finding parking for labor though as last time OH was a wreck driving to hosp and was lucky not to lose his license.

You guys have reminded me I really need to get a blue badge sorted - not sure it's free at the hospital car park - but definatly means I will be able to get into the hospital and not just be stranded looking at it lol!

Has anyone done the child birth trust ante-natal classes? Are they worth paying for (I get reduced fees about £15 and membership for £2) I was wondering if it was worth becoming a member too? My local hospital only does one two hour class - and these look much more in depth. I'm also thinking I might need someone on my side about the home birth thing.
  • Totally off topic, but I keep meaning to mention that cos my work pays for us to have BUPA cover, we get a one off payment of I think £150 when pregnant. Didnt even realise until the personell lady told me!! Just a heads up if any of your works do the same :)

spikeysoul cant help about the classes never been to any.

As for the blue badge most of the time you still get charged but it would mean you'd be at the exit. check with the hospital as my old one would give discounts but i think it depends on the area.

Fattyboo i have been paying into a health plan for years never claimed for anything but had a nosy on the web the othernight and they give a pay out too. yipee.lol need to check if it would cover a scan?

Think my bump dropped overnight! I woke up this morning with an odd feeling, like it feels when the doctor is pressing down on your pelvis to see whether baby is engaged, which lasted for about 10 mins, and all day people have been asking me whether baby is due in the next week or so. My mum who is staying with us at the moment also commented spontaneously that my shape has changed. I have felt really sore and uncomfortable today though, so if it has it hasn't really helped with the comfort factor (though sore in a different way to before). Also think I am very slightly dilated, but no sign of a show yet.

Mum and Dad both thought they heard my DH say in the middle of the night last night that he was taking me to hospital! Not sure whether they both had the same dream or whether he was sleep talking, but needless to say I'm still here!

Hey Nicki. Have you still got your parents staying with you? If your bump has dropped and you think you might be dilated, can it still be a while before you would actually go into labour? No queue jumping please!!

Spikey - I think Mountain Lioness was taking NCT classes. Can't remember who else.

Yes and yes. Parents are here until Friday to help out with the kids. OH is off on Monday (BH) and DD goes back to school on Wednesday and DS on Thursday. Bump can drop up to 6 weeks before the birth (or just beforehand) and its not uncommon to be a little dilated when you've already had kids (this is no 3 for me). With c section I will be Q jumping a bit, but ideally not by 6 weeks .

ooo i have a new feeling today - instead of cutie little flutters and kicks it feels like i have a bag of bones in my tummy and they are all scraping together - i dont like it

I am at the end of my tether with oh - there is a chance i can get a private scan tomorrow / tue to put my mind at rest and if there is anything wrong the nhs will get 12 days extra to help but hubby wants to wait untill the 4th sept to give lo a chance to grow a bit more.

    Happy due date nesquick:j

My bump keeps feeling weird, it's like i can feel it growing lol. Sometimes feels tight like a mild BH feeling as far as i remember from with DS, but i'm only 24 weeks (yay!) so know it's not that, must just be baby changing position.

Still not sure if look preg to the outside world, i saw myself in a long mirror and i reckon i could pass as just fat, not sure if a stranger would risk asking me when i was due lol!! But it's definitely looking rounder by the day.
