Wow I cannot stick to my budget. Hubby doesn't like not having much spending money.
Not sure I can see us getting debt free very quickly. Not sure how to get motivated.Debt August 2009 - £30,525.50Debt Paid February 2011

What are you/your hubby most struggling with? Is it food/entertainment/hitting the shops etc?"I don't want to make money, I just want to be wonderful."

Me and my hubby are exactly the same. We've always eaten out and had LOTS of takeaways, and it is really proving hard to break the habit. We set a budget and shopped around for deals at different supermarkets. We also tried planning meals for the week which worked at first. It all went wrong last week due to things going on  but we're starting again this week. We just sat down and the amount of money we were spending on food was shocking . The money we could have saved actually really upset me.
So... I haven't got much advice to pass on at the moment, just support, but a food budget, shopping for deals and pre planning meals (even cooking in bulk and freezing- I know some people do that but I actually haven't tried) can help. I'm hoping that seeing the money we save (which we will put to one side) will really spur us on

I had a very dark day yesterday with my depression. I spent a lot of money on takeaway this weekend and I regret it now but its in the past so time to look forward.
My little boy is teething so I am trying to help him more than worrying about money. It is a nice distraction. I am finding it hard to set a plan for today so will just update as I go along but will try and stay focused.Debt August 2009 - £30,525.50Debt Paid February 2011

Right I think I am back on track a little. I am leaving the house tonight to go and help a friend out with some work. This may be a regular thing so just getting out and about is worth its weight in gold.
Went and did a bit of a fill shop and managed to get a big bag of potatoes for 0.62p which go out today but I plan to do a load of bulk cooking with them so no problem.
Trying not to get too hung up with money as it seems to be making me more miserable. I want to try and get the barclaycard paid off but the next due payment which is the middle of next month. Fingers crossed.
I need to do lots of cooking and cleaning today. Hopefully my washing machine will be fixed too so I can crack on with my washing pile!!

Hi there,
Well done on what you have managed so far. The mindset of MSE is a challenge to get into, but once you are there you're hooked.
We like the takeaways but have found that menu planning for the week stops this. We put a list up in the kitchen of meals to have that week from what has been bought and what is in the house so we're not stuck with the - It's Wednesday but I don't really fancy THAT.....scenario. It also means that I don't have to think too much when I get in from work.
And you're so close to getting rid of the credit card......
Enjoy your day

Thanks CM - a nice inspiring post there!!
I am hoping some batch meals will help combat the takeaways as previously suggested. I used to make a list of meals but since having my son my routine has totally changed. I am hoping to regain some of that soon - except he has just started teething
Also if I eat better I might lose baby weight quicker. I am almost back to pre pregnancy weight but want to lose another stone on top to be back to my ideal weight.Debt August 2009 - £30,525.50Debt Paid February 2011

Right onwards and upwards. I felt great doing some work last night. I miss being at work and just helping out a friend really got me back into things. Was so glad to be home though - it was the longest I had been away from my LO and really missed him...even though I have left him a few times before.
Washing machine didn't get fixed yesterday so I getting desperate for clothes now!! Hopefully they will sort it tomorrow and I can spend all weekend washing.
Scratchcard winnings are creeping up gradually which is positive and I am going to try and look into the payment a day challenge but need to read properly as I am not fully sure I get all the parts to it - blonde I know!
I am looking at maybe self managing hubby's debt as we currently pay £35 in admin fees to his DM company. I reckon I can do all admin for about £5 a month and use the extra £30 to increase payments.
Any views on this would be great!

Washing machine should be fixed now so going to tackle my washing pile today. Also need to get some tidying up and cleaning done.
Had a row with hubby last night after he called me a lazy f***ing b**ch which I didn't appreciate so going to continue ignoring him too. Can't be bothered being made to feel so rubbish anymore. The quiet will definately allow me time to consider what I am going to do.
Not going to make additional payment to credit card this month as money is hubby's and not entirely sure I want anything from him right now.
Wow that became a bit more miserable than planned lol.
