Operation Get Out of Debt

  • I said about a compromise but hubby wants to get the credit card paid off because of the interest we are accruing.

I think we will feel better when it is paid and hubby will be fine with it. Just feel guilty. Will be nice to see things moving though.

I think we are going to wait until the week to get things paid. Just a shame that £3.5k will be gone just like that.

  • I agree that I'd probably want to spend some of the money....but is is a great opportunity to pay the card off and like you said it'll feel great when it's all done and dusted! :j

From what others have said, it can help to think that the £3.5K is already gone, you have already spent it and had fun doing so. Now is the time to pay the invoice and remember the fun, that's all. :D

  • Exactly.

Well I am having to fight the urge to splurge today. My mum, grandma and dad have been staying for the week and they just left to go back home. I am devastated. Hubby was out so had to console myself and now feel like I need to go and spend money to cheer up. Think I will clean the house instead and just keep busy...I hate it when they leave :(

Mum and Grandma have spoilt LO rotten with new clothes and filling his moneybox! Will spend this week finding and setting up his child trust fund savings account. Think I need to start my mini MSE off as he means to go on.

Going to play with some figures too as seeing different options of debt clearance is quite theraputic. I love numbers...wish I could make something of enjoyment of numbers.

Might look into accountancy or payroll courses for while I am on mat leave.

  • I got very down again tonight and ended up eating a truck load of chocolate that my family bought in the last week that they never ate. Going to need to work extra hard at aqua fit tomorrow night lol.

Feeling down about it all tonight. Think I will go and wake my little man so he can have his bath and final feed before bedtime and hit the sack myself. Luckily I have the day to myself tomorrow so can just chill out and do some housework.

  • I am going to get on it today. I started daily clicks about 4 months ago but never kept it up...bad girl!

So this morning I have signed up for the free scratchcards and got my first free 10p. Going to do some daily clicks and then get on and do some housework. I think my son will want feeding shortly so need to stay disciplined today.

Ongoing bonus saga with my husband needs resolving today. I am sick of fighting so will let him just do what he wants.

    Have a good day everyone!

  • Wow what a busy day. I had my friends daughter today and felt totally unimaginative! I ended up getting my head down for an hour and a half.

I did the scratchcards this morning but not much mse. My hubby and I did get the cleaning done.

    Tomorrow I plan to:
    - Discuss bonus money and finally make the necessary payments
    - Sort out the budget for next month
    - Write my shopping list for the monthly shop
    - Plan my meals for a couple of weeks
    - Do some of my everlasting washing pile!
    - Cancel a package from my sky

    Check in tomorrow!

  • A productive day I think. I managed to get some discussion about the bonus and so we are definitely paying off the credit card. So now we will only have the car, 2 loans and the debt management.

Also got my wage slip through today and got paid £40 more than I expected which was a bonus. It means we will be in the black this month instead of the red...yay!!

Its pay day tomorrow though so I will be doing the monthly shop as frugally as I can. I need to organise the meal plan tonight in preparation. I also need to call and cancel the sky package as I forgot to do it the other day.

I am going home this weekend to see my family with my LO as some of them have not met him yet so I am really looking forward to that. Need to mind my spending where possible though.

  • Wow what a weekend! I went home to see my parents for the weekend and the rest of my family met my LO. It was good fun but as always I was sad to leave.

I logged on to pay my barclaycard this morning to find my husband has paid £3,200 off the balance.

The bonus has caused many arguments but we just came to a compromise. Hubby really wanted his 4x4 and be debt free. He paid for his car then paid the rest on the credit card. I have told him now though that I want the rest of the income to go on debts for a while.

So now we have a little less debt and it does feel good because most of the debts left are loans now with regular repayments instead of credit cards with unknown interest amounts.

Now I can start to focus on my plans to return to work after my maternity leave.

I have also started doing scratchcards so will update signature with that. Hoping to jump on some challenges too this month, probably NSD but need to get hubby on board with that.

    Have a good day all.
