How does it affect me andI think your average punters view of a recession would be:.
What's on the news today.
I assumed you meant punter

As a comparison, how long were we officially in recession in the early 90's as using their current methods.
Not making a point, just interested. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

Longer than they will lead you to believe and there are some areas that never really recovered properly, may not happen this time as there are no mining communities to wreck just cr4p High Streets and no manufacturing left worth shouting about either. As a comparison, how long were we officially in recession in the early 90's as using their current methods.

When "they" tell you it's all over the u/e figures still rise for a while and places still go to the wall, may be for longer this time due to lack of funds etc. But what t f do I know.....
I respect those that know about the GDP stuff but tbh as Mewbie says it means jack !!!!!! to scum like me.I came in to this world with nothing and I've still got most of it left. :rolleyes:0 -

well trying to anyway, it's hard reading your own work and being clear headed about it.

According to wikipedia we were in recession for 5 quarters in the 90s, and have been in recession for that long this time around too. Apparently it then took 13 quarters for the economy to recover to where it was before the recession.
I was thinking about the GDP figures this morning, and I have to agree with Mewbie and bo drinker. I couldn't even guess at what GDP has changed by, positive or negative... I wouldn't be able to even hazard a guess at when we're in recession or whether we've exited it. I'd notice Woolies closing, and Zavvi, but other than that I haven't really noticed anything any different, some houses are worth a bit less, and interest rates are low... but apart from that!“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Thanks for that guys.
All I remember from the last recession is lots of people worrying about stuff and horrid headlines in the paper whilst I swanned about wondering what everyone was getting so het up about.
Then of course the property prices plunging reared their head for us at the same time as my swanning around being holier than thou and lecturing everyone else about how easy it all was came to an end.
Looking back, I was not a very sympathetic or very nice person back then...it certainly brought me down a peg or two!We made it!
