Wanadoo made this offer...........

Having been with freeserve and now wanadoo for approx four years, I am unsettled. I phoned wanadoo in Aug '03 and told them £14.99 was in my opinion too much. They offered me 3 months at £6.99.
As this came to an end, they added a "free" month and suggested I call back before this ended.
I've just concluded a lengthy conversation with a wanadoo rep who consulted with customer services and made the following suggestion.
"Sir, we currently have no special offers, however, you might like to terminate your contract with us and whilst doing so, we will forward a new connect to wanadoo disc which will enable you to access the service for three months at a rate of £7.99. per month. At the end of the three months, you terminate and install the disc again.........and so on etc. Effectively using the three months reduced rate every quarter".
I told them to send the disc but made no cancellation. I said I would think about it. If I do not cancel, I will revert to £14.99 a month early in Jan '05.
In the https://www.ispreview.co.uk list, I note there are several ISP's who charge under £10 monthly. I would like unlimited access, I am prepared and accept 2hrs cut-off and would now welcome suggestions from anyone using and enjoying such a service.
Were I to decide to change ISP, how easy is it to terminate a contract with wanadoo via visa and how easy is it to set up a new account ?.
Thanks in anticipation. Islandman

its very easy to set up with another isp.
with fast4 (£6.99)you sign up on line and can use it straight away.
only have to pay one month at a time, so no contract.
many isps to chose from that operate in this way.
as for getting out of current provider, it should not be a problem, just tell them to cancel it.0 -
E7even are really good too - check out my referral link below for more info.

Huh! wanadoo and their free month !. Today I received my bank statement which showed that despite being told by wanadoo I would have a free month (untill Jan 4th) they have taken the £14.99.
I telephoned them and even though I spoke to two people, it seems they shouldn't have offered the free month. Hence the debit.
I told them that as I have retired due to numerous health issues (but didn't tell them I get company pension, so don't you), I had limited income, that still didn't produce anything. Whilst on, I enquired about procedure for terminating contract. It seems it is only a matter of one telephone call to cancel.
It now seems that I will be going for fast4, just a matter of making a note of things before I pull out the plug so to speak. If I disappear off the face of the earth for a few days, it will be because I've made a balls up !.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Hi there,
I agree with gary38uk. I have been with
http://www.fast4.net/
for about 4 months now. I can always get on during the day. Some evening it takes a few goes but I can normally get on. Good luck.

Might be worth waiting a few more days for Fast4 because last Jan they had a special offer for only £5 a month unlimited.0

Thankyou for that. I will keep an eye open for an announcement. I have just email them with a question, maybe they will "tip me off".This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Why are you all paying for ISP'S there are lots of free iSP'S out there, you just need to register with them, they then download the installer package for you and this sets the dialup connection, i use this at home and works fine, you just pay for the phone usage this is for a none broadband connection, you will probably be able to use your broadband connection but will have to be setup by someone who knows how to

This old fart of a silversurfer age, does NOT have broadband. I simply want to be able to switch on, log-on and surf away, on and off all day, whenever the mood takes me. I would like to do it as cheaply as possible and with the minimum of fuss. Having retired early due to numerous health issues, including a heart attack, I wish to potter around on the net, watching and hopefully learning from each of you. I want to avoid spending money, yet not want for anything.
To me, money comes and goes like ships in the night. One minute I'm up, the next I'm down. Last week I found £10, yesterday a cheque came along for just under £1000, seems my pension people made a !!!!!!-up, then today we discovered someone had fruadulently accessed my disabled wife's bank account. It seems that after she'd paid for goods at a supermarket by card, somehow within minutes another purchase had been made on the card for £1.84, and a cashback for £50 had been given. She never uses the card for anything under £20 and has never had cashback. After ages at the bank & police, we have now found her supermarket receipt, identifying the cashier and till.
Oh, what a ramble, I told you I was a doddery old silverwhatever !This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I COMPLETELY forgot to say what I had intended. Fast4.net said they would be happy to wait for my custumn just in case there is a special offer. That tells me there MIGHT be.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
