Well - just as things start to go smoothly the wheels have to fall off. OH has been told that he will be made redundant in the next couple of weeks
. Bo££ock$.
However the CV is done and he will start job hunting tomorrow. At least the finances are almost in order and all the companies were warned that this was on the cards.
Ho Hum! What more can we do!Ebay challenge 2010 - £525

Well, it has been a while. Things have been rather hectic to say the least.
OH was made redundant just over a week ago, he will get a couple of months pay so that will act as a small buffer while he looks for work. He has been trying to sign on but it seems to be an impossible task! First he gave all the details over the phone, then he had an appointment to go into the office, then he had to rearrange it as it clashed with an interview. Today he went in early for his appointment to be told they were running late, he said he would have to reschedule again as he had an interview - the woman at the desk suggested he cancel the interview!!! obviously he didn't. He now has an appointment on Friday (couldn't do it tomorrow as he has more interviews). They seem to be actively trying to discourage him from actively seeking work!!!!!!! Hopefully one of these interviews will work out .
The day after he was told that he was being made redundant my school got told that OfSTED was coming in . That was last week, and hopefully that all went well - we have to wait for the official verdict.
As a result I am so behind with the letter writing! I have written two letters today. One to the bank who seem determined to be vile when dealing with our financial hardship case, and the other to welscum who have failed to respond to our SAR request. I'll have to catch up at the weekend. But at least we have now paid £870 to our debts! :TEbay challenge 2010 - £525

Sorry to hear about OH job - good luck with the job hunting.
Well done on the £870 of the debts:T.0 -
Another quick update - our annoying landlord has decided (now we have found somewhere else and given our notice) that he isn't going to sell after all!
Our letting agents (who still don't think this is in any way inconvenient and have still not fixed some problems) have been trying to get the key cut but it is some fancy type which is really hard for them to get.

Hello again,
Well, another big gap but we have been busy.
£2459 paid off our various debts so far, so our total debt is now down to £52290.50 :j. Not too long before we break the £50K boundary.
OH has still not managed to get a job, but he had been having interviews and there are still several things in the pipeline. At the moment we are maintaining the payments, our deposit from our current flat will cover at least another month or two so hopefully he will have work by then.
The letter writing has finally paid off!!!! We received a cryptic letter from the bank saying they had put recovery action on hold and they would send out an offer letter - we thought it would be about £500.
Today we got a letter offering us just over £2000!:j:j:j We are going to accept and put it in a saving account until OH is back in work - that way we can keep paying our debts at the current level and when he is back in work the remainder can go towards the debts.Ebay challenge 2010 - £525

Well done Myopic - great success. Post it on the bank charges reclaim success stories to inspire others!
Hope that gives you a little breathing space. Keep at it - hope you are just otherwise engaged. Any luck with OH on the job front?:DLBM 30/6/9 Unsecured debts [STRIKE]£25,323.48[/STRIKE] £0 :T Debt free

Busy, busy - the move went well and we are now in our lovely new flat!
Total of £3397.80 now cleared, so we are making headway. Hopefully next month we will go under the £50K mark.
Thanks Gar, I will post it as soon as we get the cash! Part of me keeps expecting something to go wrong, so I'll count it once we get it.:D
Our car insurance dd bounced due to the funds being all over the place when we moved, I called to pay the missed installment but the thoughtless numpty told me that they could no longer accept installments and they would not take our mitigating circumstances, and the fact that there has been a postal strike so we got no letters, into account. They wanted over £300. Rather annoyed until I worked out that we could get new insurance much cheaper :j, so the unhelpful people have actually done us a favour - £30 a month saving!
OH has now got a job - oddly enough the company who made him redundant has now taken him back! Madness, but one hell of a relief.Ebay challenge 2010 - £525

Fantastic news about OH job - what a relief. I can't believe you have managed to get rid of over £3k when OH has been unemployed - well done:T.
Silver lining right enough re: car insurance. Hope you went via a cashback site once you found out who was cheapest:money:.LBM 30/6/9 Unsecured debts [STRIKE]£25,323.48[/STRIKE] £0 :T Debt free

A brief visit. Total paid to date since LBM (including early payments made in Dec due to being paid earlier) £4940.40.
So our overall total is now £49727.34 - yippee we are under the £50K mark!
Hopefully this will reduce a lot more - we have decided to give up my car and get a cheap runabout, so I will have to work out how much that will knock off.
We got a hardship payment from our old bank - most of it went to clear the ODs on the two accounts we held (not included in our total) but at least that is one less creditor! It left us enough to relax a bit over Christmas before we get back onto the money saving again.
On the plus side, the council tax arrears are due to be cleared in the first 6 months of this year! And we are up to date with our current council tax :j.
