lol and I thought some bears on here were amusing, maybe the 80-90% was just a bull winding them up, I can't really believe anyone could be stupid enough to buy into that.

We got as far as 70% on here - with macaque leading the charge :rotfl:

Are you still in the denial stage geoff? Most have moved onto angry, some even acceptance.

He said in another thread that my stock market investments were 'amazing' I'm still trying to figure out why? On not a particularly large amount of money (but enough for me to keep track) I am losing about 10% (plus quite a few years of none growth, so plenty opportunity cost too) not great obviously so not amazingly good, but surely not amazingly bad (given that the market crashed) there must be some that have done very badly.

I did ask him but got no reply.

If volumes double, we have a 20 year supply of bank of mum and dad.

yes I remember that one, wasn't it trying to form a 70% club? But I think the telephone box rent was too high where they wanted to hold their club meetings, so the club never really took off.

Are you all insane? How can it be few people here see the reality of the situation? The last years of boom in the housing market were an effect of inflationary pressures from the influx of cheap money from the wholesale markets, that in turn led to the banks over leveraging. The money has gone! It is no more! People were only able to buy at stupidly inflated prices because they were able to borrow that money, they cannot borrow it anymore!
On top of this 1 in 6 households in the UK now has no working adult, the true effect of this is yet to be felt. Quantitative easing will increase inflationary pressures in time. This is a perfect storm waiting to happen. I do wonder if people here are just convincing themselves because the reality of the situation is too horrible for them to comprehend....It’s really not rocket science.
You all know in your heart of hearts, when people are forced to sell, which in time they will be, then the true falls in house prices will be apparent, until then it’s just the lull before the storm.

    BUT

    AND

UK population now more than 61m

My sm investments have done OK over the last couple of years considering, then again I decided to try my hand with individual shares instead of leaving it up to some of those fund managers (you know the ones, who held the bank shares until the bottom and sold them and have seen nothing of the upturn). There are honourable exceptions Neptune being one I have noticed and various EM and Asia funds.

Just luck of the draw I am afraid.

Im afraid mine are just boring trackers (100 and all share) I didn't really want to pay lots of fee's for young lads in the city to be driving around in sports cars so opted for the easy to understand (but less sexy) trackers rather than other investment products. Despite Geoff thinking I have an 'amazing' stock market insight, I didn't fancy trying to cherry pick individual stocks.

They had the option to buy the telephone box but they're waiting for the 2009 Dead Cat Bounce to finish before putting in an offer 70% below peak.... :rotfl:
