Free Online hearing test

I did the hearing test on line and found I heard almost all of the numbers and the result was 'within the normal range'.
I think it is the practice of having to talk and listen over the noise of my two children that has helped me train my hearing to filter out the background noise.....0 -
The recording quality of some of those was terrible0

Yes, the poor sound quality can distort your results. It mainly dependent on the quality of your connection, the distance from the exchange, your processor, the speakers/headphones, etc, etc.
A better test is the free telephone test provided by the RNID on 0845 600 55 55. This too is a bit limited by the bandwith on normal telephone lines/receivers etc, but will give a more accurate result.
For pure 'true' results, you can take a free 5-minute test at Boots Hearing, but you need an appointment for this. Alternatively, a free 3-minute test is available at most Specsavers, and no appointment is needed.0 -

The idea of the test is that you are having to hear numbers against an increasingly noisy background. This is where most folk with a hearing deficiency suffer."Some say the cup is half empty, while others say it is half full. However, this is skirting around the issue. The real problem is that the cup is too big."0 -
Great test, thanks. I was convinced my hearing was dodgy (runs in the family and am always having to ask my husband to repeat himself) but it confirmed I was in the normal range.

You can check each ear separately with the RNID telephone hearing check. The number is 0844 800 3838.
Calls from a BT landline cost up to 5p per minute. Other providers' charges may vary. Call set up charge may apply.
It's great that so many people are checking their hearing!0 -
Some people are getting a 'page not found' error. Rest assured the test is still there.:j
Try this direct link to the test page instead (sorry but as a recent joiner I can't post links - you'll have to cut and paste):

Seems to be more of a problem with browsers other than the later versions of Internet Explorer. I had the problem with Opera 9.64 but IE7 worked fine.
For the more techie:
It seems to be something to do with Javascript - I'm guessing its probably got some non-standard method in it that works in Internet Explorer versions.0 -
