How have i not seen this forum/thread before????!!!!
I'm such a little fashion junkie but I dont buy into it (if that makes anysense!!!) I do most of my clothes shopping in local charity shops (someone near me has very good taste, karen millen/ted baker/etc, and is my sizeits fab!!) or on ebay. I do treat myself to proper shopping occaisionally but I'm always disappointed with the amount I have to spend to get anything. I went shopping with my mum a few months ago for a day out and only got 2 skirts, a hat, a cardi and a dress for £70....that would have only cost me a tenner normally!
I do splash out on my training gear, like today i've been working out so I'm in my nike capris, nike racer tank and trusty adidas trainers I've had for about 5 years (got a pair in each of the colours they do so I can still coordinate!!).
Its rare I get through a week without buying something for me to wear, which is really bad when I have wardrobes even gok would have kittens at!! My prblem is that I love smart lovely clothes but dont go anywhere to wear them. I'm a full time mum and student so I cant warrant putting on my 4inch heels and fish tail skirt to hoover then do quadratic equations!!! I have got enough coats to wear a different one every day for about 3 weeks though so the school run is never boring0 -

I don't see why not! I'm sure I've read somewhere that hoovering in heels is good for you (possibly in a Camilla Morton book?)
I am being such a slob today - grey pj bottoms, white vest top and an old zip-up black Nike hoody. But I need to wash my hair later before I go out and I'm in the middle of a massive housework blitz so I don't really see the point of wearing nice clothes now0 -
Hi everyone, just hanging around in an old white juicy trackie today just wanted to comment on thisMy prblem is that I love smart lovely clothes but dont go anywhere to wear them.Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0

Thank you Glowgirl.
I would quite happily wear my posher stuff everyday but, and I mean no offence here, if you saw the state of some of the other mums at our school you'd not want to wear it either.....I already stand out cos I actually brush my hair and look in the mirror before leaving the house :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Trinny and suzannah would have a field day
The only thing gok would be impressed with in my room is the fact that I didn't spend designer prices on anything I own...My ted baker LBD was £8 and my (unworn) karen millen court shoes were £155 reduced to £35 in asos sale :T0 -
I wearmy serious heels to do the housework. I live rurally and spend lots of time in boots or muckers and have gone from social butterfly to virtual recluse at times, so its the only time I get to wear them.
Also, when I don't where them all year and then put them on for all the obligatory Christmas stuff for DH's work and obnly the odd night out they hurt and beome harder to walk in, so its best to wear them around the house every now and then
.
BTW: I'm realy sad that there has been some unpleasantness again. For a long time I was relaint on th internet for by far the majority of my social contact. Having chronic illness can often lead to depression and having outlets such as this helps people like me resist and feel in someway connected to a wider world and fight off risk of developing those added horrors.
Taking an interst in what I'm wearing is helping me improve self esteem, and not in the traditional way of going out and buying something new. I'm taking more effort, not putting of repairs and, by lucky timein for me these threads started as I was starting a new, very painful, treatment. This would normally see me pretty low and trying to be distant from my body, not taking more interest in it, yet thanks to this and another thread on this board I'm looking better and enjoying being me.
BUT, I do not really seek confrontation over this, because it is personal, and so I'm debating how much this helps me ATM when it gets jibe-ridden. So, if I drop out I wish you all the very, very best and thank you for reinspiring me.0 -

Oh LIR, I really hope you don't leave us! They seem to have congregated again, huh? Hopefully it won't blow up like last time. I hope I'll be able to find you on other boards!
I am so tired. Had such a busy, fun weekend. I'm currently WILLING the two smelly males (not including my OH!) languishing on my sofa to leave so I can put my pjs on and stretch out! But for now, I'm wearing leggings, black and white striped top, slippers and a cotton scarf around my head. Snooze!0 -
Lostinrates, please don't leave us! There's a few fashion threads at the moment and the health posters are a bit scared of being outnumbered. They'll drift off again soon, don't be intimidated by any silly comments, I'm sure they're nice people really.
I had a wardrobe clearout yesterday and packed away my summer gear with some homemade lavender bags in an old vintage suitcase ready for rediscovering when I pack for India in december. Great idea until I looked out of the window this morning to discover summer back with a vengeance!
Today has been spent car booting and attempting to organise my mum's holdall ready for her Malta holiday. Honestly, 6 handbags for a 10 day break, the woman's crazy .
Today's outfit:
Black strapless hareem pant playsuit (£2 market stall selling clothing samples)
Vintage denim waistcoat (ancient)
Leather high leg gladiators (£3 Indian street market)
Assorted brass, turquoise and wooden bangles (collected over the years)
Big wooden ring (20p boot sale yesterday)
Faux tortoiseshell ring (TopShop about 3 years ago)
Wooden disc earrings (Chinese jewellery shop, Birmingham 99p)
Vintage tooled leather saddle bag worn across the body (£1 charity shop)
Oversized brown framed vintage sunnies (50p car boot)
Enjoy the rest of your weekend, gang! xxx0 -
