Hey Dudes!
It's gorgeous here today and we've just got back from a mega car boot sale.
I'm still feeling the festival vibe so I've gone for the all out hippy chick look today - I met my hero, Michael Lang, the guy who set up Woodstock, at the weekend.
Faded blue denim Levi 501 jeans cut down into shorts (5p jumble sale)
Black cheesecloth top with flutter sleeves and white embroidery (£1.80 Bay liquidation sale)
Long tan leather gladiator sandals (£3 Indian market)
Vintage 1960's mid-thigh length brown suede waistcoat (50p car boot sale)
Bronze leaf pendant on a leather thong (TopShop £2)
Bronze hoop earrings with coins (25p Indian street bazaar)
Selection of brass, wood and turquoise bangles
Indian tribal rings
Over-sized black sunglasses (50p charity shop)
Vintage tooled leather saddle bag slung across body (£1 charity shop)
I apologise for causing nightmares and breaking all the fashion rules, I am over 40 and wearing very short shorts!
Have a fabby thursday, guys! xxxxx0 -
Hi guys, :hello:
Now I wondered if I could have some of your opinions. Have been ruthless with my wardrobe (now half empty) and ready to stock up for autumn (I know, I know but better to be prepared). What I have always wanted to know is what colours go with blonde hair. I mean really, almost white, blonde hair. 80% of my wardrobe is black, navy or brown, but would like to add a bit of colour. I also have green eyes, size 12 trousers/skirt and a 10 up top. Thanks
Hello, you sound like my twin! I have short (very short after my trip to the hairdressers this morning!) light blonde hair (it's warmer than white blonde but still very fair), green eyes and am a 12. What skin tone do you have? I'm fair with pink tones and wear the following colours:
Mustard yellow
Green (lots of green, in all shades)
Dusky pink (in small doses, like a throw over cardi or within a floral print)
Small amounts of red (red and white stripes, a red bag, red shoes. I have a red and cream dress which I can just get away with without looking too sallow)
White, cream and beige (not very colourful but great for mixing, I have cardigans in these colours and they don't wash me out like darker tones will)
Purple
Hope that helps a bit!0 -

(depends on shade of red which shde of purple are we talking scarlet or crimson?) I also like red and grey. I'm fairly bold with colour, so I wear a clear red with bright blue, or red and pink, (for the last two think happy fifties or cath kidston clours) or red and orange happily. Scarlet can work well with chocolatey tones too. The only real no -no for me is Red and green (shoud neverbe seen). Red and black and or white, IMO, is smart but a little predictable. I do it, but it feels safe rather than the draatic it should be, IYSWIM. Camel and cream are smart colours that work well, less predictaby, and IO, are more chic. I' not terribly chic though. In my sequins and pinny.
Thank you LIR, not looking for 'safe' as have been doing safe all my life putting red with black ......looking for recklessly clashing chic if such a thing exists! The orange/pink/purple (not altogether) with red appeals! Have been doing clashing blocks of citrus (per una orange t shirt with lime mac this summer ) with some success (in my eyes anyway...others may not agree):rotfl: Dark haired and my colouring can take it I think, need to find some pics for inspiration to make sure I get it right!! Determined not to have a gloomy winter dressed in black clothes this year!!
Min...I keep meaning to say good luck with your time as the Boss!
PS Has this VERY LARGE abuse button been there all the time? It's seriously worrying me today as I skip along thanking you all......so if you get reported for 'abuse' by me, girls and boys ....sorry it was an accident!!0 -

Hi, I have naturally pale skin, but to be honest I pretty much St Tropez everyday so have always a bit of a light tan and like to use bronzers over foundation.
I always go for darker colours, do you think they may not work? I rarely buy anything in a light colour?0 -

Received ''wisdom'' on these matters is that dark colours would wash you out. But I think its more complex than that. I think body language and facial expression and, even if just through those, personality have a bearing too.
I have green eyes, pale skin and dark blonde/highlighted hair: I think I'm pretty lucky colouring wise as although its not very dramatic colouring I feel comfortble in many different colours than are trotted out as ''colour appropriate'' for me.0 -

My mother has just come home with a black dress with colour blocks of red and orange in different shades, how's that for timing? Its much bolder and warmer with the orange: has a sort of Spanish city-wear look about it.0 -

With you being a platinum blonde, I suspect the primary colours are your best bet. Anything contrasting will bring out your features, whereas neutral/pastel shades (with the exception of turquoise/pink) will just wash you out.0 -

Maybe you'll have more luck. It's quite a handy site but a bit of a maze of links!0 -
Bronnie, red and purple are gorgeous together! I would also suggest teal, it is amazing with red. Vibrant pink is also good, clash away as much as you want! I looove red.

It's a no effort day for me today (I seen to be having far too many of these recently) and I just put the first clean and ironed thing on to hand.
White cotton pintucked 3/4 sleeve shirt Monsoon (sale last year)
jeans (New Look £6 sale)
pink Birkenstocks
Nipped into charity shop on my lunch break and got a brand new, labels on pair of green Top Shop kitten heel courts for 2.99 and a new Charles Tyrwhitt shirt for hubby for a fiver. I'm well pleased with my bargains! :T0
