alex, i love laura ashley, evene though i think it still has a bit of the "old lady" connotation..i dont mind, they do lovely quality floral dresses, and its especially good when they have your size left in the sale!
I think they would cripple my feet but I still think they're amazing
I was quite surprised by how nice some of the stuff is in Laura Ashley! Quite a bit out of my price range but for well made, classic staples it might be worth a hunt once I'm down to target weight. I'm still very wary of spending proper money on clothes when they hopefully won't fit for very long. I could have spent a fortune on the homeware though...Irregular choice are by far the best shoes around
Seconded! I have another pair on their way to me, woop!0 -

I'm back and my, isn't it cold?
So much for a swim - thought I'd have an hour's yoga session on the Wii but, like ladyfalco, it wouldn't work. By the time I'd spoken to the very helpful Nintendo telephone support team I'd missed the class. Manged a brisk walk into town and back to pick up some eBay packaging supplies.
Piratefairy and Lostinrates - hope you're both feeling better soon. Lost, nothing worse than a cricked neck, makes everything ache, doesn't it?
Alexnikov - I adore Laura Ashley's interiors but never think to check out the clothing. I loved her designs from the late 60's.
Happy travels, Mrs_Ryan!
RainyWednesday - I love that skirt, I reckon it might be quite easy to make one. Note to self - investigate fabric stash.
Today's outfit (up on blog):
Black smock with tapestry yoke (TopShop sale)
Vintage "Jeff Banks W11 Boutique" purple blouse (Car boot sale)
Grey opaque tights
Black high-heeled shoe boots (Charity shop)
Silver bangles and rings (India)
Accessorize jet chandelier earrings (Charity shop)
Enjoy what's left of your tuesday!

Hey folks, how's everyone today. I've been a little remiss in my posting of late - had a few problems lately but things seem to be getting back on track. Almost back to my normal postive self!
DaisyB, so sorry to hear what you're going through at the moment - you seem to have a very loving and understanding family who can help you through this.
Piratefairy, I love IC but they don't half pinch my feet - I find they come up a little small which puts me between sizes. Still, that's what those little blister plasters are just perfect for!
MrsR - welcome back to the North East (albeit briefly).
Goanmad, love today's purple blouse, it's stunning and the colour is just beautiful. Purple has always been my favourite colour. Re the 60s Laura Ashey (and 70s), I've got stacks of vintage Jackie mags, and there was rarely a week went by without a Laura Ashley outfit in it, and they were always so beautiful. I even got married in a Laura Ashley black velvet riding jacket over a red dress.
Anyway, another day off for me (just the one and then back to the grind tomorrow) and I'm spring cleaning and decluttering our bedroom, so I'm afraid I'm a total grub atm, wearing:
black cropped Manuka yoga pants
white Earl Jeans tshirt, with streaky deep pink cap sleeves (£1 TK Maxx - I'm not sure the streaks are intentional!)
grey baggy sweater (until the heating comes back on)
silk scarf tied round head
raggy old lilac Uggs
Going to enjoy a cheeky glass of wine and some chocs later tonight (Hotel Chocolat 12 Days of Xmas box reduced from £28 to £5!) as a reward for all my hard work.0 -
I've not long got back...exhausted doesn't quite cover it! I am also £65 but poorer, but got 3 dresses, a top, undies, stationary and baking things for that so it could have been worse! Oh, and some jeans.0

Hi everyone, I've been lurking in this thread admiring all the outfits (and following a few on Google Reader - sorry! I'm not a stalker, just a bit shy
) and have come to the conclusion, ladies, that I really, really need some help. Wardrobe-wise, in case you wondered
. Can I join in?
I seem to have a total inability to put together the items in my wardrobe. I have a purple skirt I was dying to wear today, and came to the conclusion that it's a non-matcher - nothing I have seems to go with it. I'd like to go through life looking more like my outfit was designed, and less like some sort of hipster-ish bag-lady! It's worth noting that my confidence has taken a complete nose-dive since starting to wear glasses full time.
Outfit today (finally) was:
Black suede lace-up heeled boots (Schuh, had since I was 14)
Black self-stripe knee-length dancer skirt (La Redoute)
Bright purple tights (Ethel Austin)
Baggy black foil print t-shirt worn off the shoulder (gifted)
Stripy multi-coloured Lochcarron wool gauntlets (gifted)
Kookai pink and yellow floral prescription specs. (Asda)
Garnet drop earrings (Silver By Mail)
Purple eye make-up and lip gloss
Added when I went out:
Stripy multi-coloured Lochcarron wool scarf (gifted)
Black wool coat (Asda)
Dark grey Satchel/Handbag with silver star brooch and red starburst brooch attached (it's an awesome bag btw! gifted, star brooch La Redoute, starburst brooch DP, both old)

Hi ladies, hope you're having a good day. I'm off to my second aerobics class in half hour so will be wearing leggings and one of DH's T-shirts, so glam!
My beautiful dress came this afternoon - had to try it on straight away and was so pleased I took photos!

I had a rummage through the sale rail at Sainsburys while "getting something for dinner!" and managed to pick up:
Grey T-shirt tunic (for aerobics) £1
Jeggings (have the same pair but one size bigger getting too big!!!) £3.60 (was £12)
2 pretty t shirt bras - £2.10 each
Baby girl outfit (dress and top) for friend who just had a baby £4.50 from about £16.
Very pleased with my bargains.
DB- sounds like you had some good Retail Therapy!
Better get changed now or I'll be late...0 -

actually sounds kind of cool..how I'm picturing it anyway.
re glasses, I wish I wore themI think they frame the face well, when chosen wisely, and I have hardly any eyebrows, so would love that.
I wear sunglasses ALL the time. Have you considered wearing prescription sunglasses when outside...that might help you feel eased in to it a little. Also, contacts? (my DH is a glasses and contacts wearer, and I actually prefer him in his glasses:cool:)
welcome welcome, don't be shy ...you're one of us now you have posted:cool:0 -
Vicki- I am SO glad you got that dress, you look gorgeoussssss.0

Thanks lostinrates... I am actually a contact lens wearer, was for ten years, then was diagnosed this year with corneal warping due to the contacts and was warned that my eye might never go back into shape properly, and that at least I was to stay off them for some months. Hence, two new pairs of glasses and me wondering who the stranger in the mirror is!"All cruelty springs from weakness" - Lucius Annaeus SenecaPersonal pronouns are they/them/their, please.
