Wolstenholmes!!!! Beware!!!

What unhelpful comments to those people who are in some distress and worry. At least one person I have read about, has nowhere to live as they have given notice on their rental property, new tenants are moving in, and the onward transaction has fallen through as a result of the Wolstenholmes situation.
You have no way of knowing exactly the reasons for each individual's decision to use these solicitors. Cost may well have been a significant factor, but all consumers are entitled to rely on the probity of a long-established firm of solicitors which are regulated in several ways by professional conduct and other rules.
I was always told that if I couldn't say anything constructive then to keep my trap shut. You appear to have joined purely to rub salt in peoples' wounds.
Seasonal greetings to you too.
And no, I have no vested interest in Wolstenholmes or any transactions related to them.
Do me a favour.
Everyone who chose Wolstenhomes did so on price.
Do all these people buy the cheapest shoes? Get their cars serviced at the cheapest garages?
Probably not. But then they entrust such a valiuable and personally important transaction to some solicitors they have never heard off for £99.
What do you imagine the outcome might be?0 -

Where the hell did you get £99.00 from. They charged me £650, the next quote up I got was £700 and yes in this current climate I do shop around for the best prices including shoes and garages. WH were potrayed as a long established law firm. If you know they werent perhaps you worked for them! In fact I surf the net for the best prices on house insurance, car insurance and holidays and have never been ripped on off before. If you havent anything constructive to say butt out.0 -
Jesus.
You people can't be this stupid.
You pay peanuts, and what do you think you're going to get?
And while you're all busy blaming everyone but yourselves, spare a thought for those people in a chain with you, affected over christmas even though they did things properly.
Cutting out coupons for Aldi and buying £6.99 shoes from Tesco affects no-one but yourselves, but some of the cheapskates on here will have seriously inconvenienced others with these £99 cowboys.
Listen, don't choose a lawyer on price. Get someone who is recommended and local to you.
These are constructive comments. I am helping those bereft of common sense.

Cant understand why you keep saying £99. No-one on any of the threads about Wolstenholmes have only paid £99. Is that perhaps inside information on how they ran their service. In fact WH's quote wasnt the cheapest one I got, I very unfortunately believed the Wolstenholmes website that they were a long established law firm since 1818. At least now in future I will know to check out every forum going and see what I can find out about a company before I use them. Sadly I thought I could trust solicitors. Hope this whole episode has not dented my faith in human nature, honesty and hardworking individuals too much.0 -
Conveyancing costs from - £199 No Completion = No Fee

P.S. Bearing in mind the number of chains that collapse, this is a business model doomed to fail.0 -

I don't think the 180 quid per hour they were charging me for their services was particularly cheap, thank you very much. And no, I didn't find them on the internet. They were recommended to me by a relative who used them when they were Wolstenholmes Rainer Macbeth and reputable. I now find myself in exactly the same boat as the rest of the people in this forum, i.e. owed tons of money0 -

Hi there
I am a reporter for the Stockport Express and Manchester Evening News and have been doing some research into Wolstenholmes, including reading the comments posted on this thread and others.
As part of this I would be interested in hearing from anyone who is owed money by Wolstenholmes, who has a complaint lodged either with the company or the SRA, or from anyone who has had unsatisfactory professional deailings with them (such as other solicitors). I'd be particuarly interested to hear from anyone who has been left homeless or in temporary accommodation.
This particularly applies to people in the Manchester area, but it doesn't matter if you live elsewhere. Equally if your issue relates to the Birmingham branch, I would still be interested in hearing from you.
Also if anyone has any general (factual) information about the firm that they think might be useful, feel free to let me know.
My email address is jennifer.williams@menmedia.co.uk.
Many thanks

Fridays said that they would match any conveyancing quotes made by and help you get money you've lost back through the SRA
That's hilarious.
Pay peanuts, get monkeys, monkeys screw up, along come more monkeys to collect the peanuts.
I double dare anyone to instruct Fridays on the back of this.
Go on, do it.
Make sure you post up your experiences, I could do with a laugh.0
