Here is the form that you use for PPI complaints (banks may have their own variation but it's much of a muchness)
http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/publications/technical_notes/ppi/PPI-consumer-questionnaire.pdf
11 pages mostly of tick boxes or simple questions, that is all the CMC filled in and posted off based on the info you gave them. If you had simply written down the complaint and posted it you wouldn't have lost thousands of pounds on a scam for a second timeSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Unfortunately, you're believing the rubbish that claims companies spout. PPI was never included in the interest on cards, it was always clear on every statement with an outstanding balance.
Well I clearly didn't pay enough attention to my statements as I had gone 15 years without any knowledge that I ever had it.
Clearly I am not a committed Money-saver and for that I can only apologise. For loans, you had to sign, or agree to it via tick box, online [very very few providers had auto tick boxes, and when they did, it was for a short period of time]
Most of my credit that had PPI was taken out over a short period of time, so it may have been that these windows coincided. If you want to come and tell us all we're wrong and you're right, go ahead.
I think we are trying to work towards to same goal here. To provide people with enough information to make an informed decision. But as I chose to do this without the use of hyperbole and derogatory language, I was shot down as being a Spammer or a Claims-company sympathiser!
They are all crooks! They rob old ladies! They are the devil! Is that what you'd prefer to hear than a considered, true story about someone's actual experience?
My situation is real. What happened to me happened exactly like it happened to an awful lot of young, innocent people back in the days where credit was given out far more liberally. To then be told that my version of events is incorrect and ridiculed the way I have been IS wrong. You've wasted your money twice by agreeing to things you say you didn't want, you obviously know better.
So by specifically asking for something NOT to be included, I've inadvertently agreed to it. How this works I really can't fathom any more than you!0 -
Well I clearly didn't pay enough attention to my statements as I had gone 15 years without any knowledge that I ever had it.
Hopefully, you will learn from that as 15 years without checking your statements is not good. What if you had incorrect transactions in there which were not yours? They are all crooks! They rob old ladies! They are the devil! Is that what you'd prefer to hear than a considered, true story about someone's actual experience?
The Claims Guys told me I could still complain despite me telling them on the phone I was an IFA and arranged my own insurances. That gives you an idea of the quality of these people.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
You are recommending people use the firm, that is promoting them. Everyone on MSE from Martin down will confirm that it's easier, cheaper and better to do it yourself.
I'm not though. I actually explicitly recommend that based on my experience, people should use Martin's method. We are here to stop people wasting their money and falling for the lies of the CMCs trying to pretend that claiming PPI is hard or something that you shouldn't attempt yourself.
I found the company using Google. I wasn't fed lies during a telephone call or in a letter/email. I made the assumption myself that it would take me far more time to research how to do it, try to find all my old policy details and then write the letters myself than to fill in an online form.
I would like to make it explicitly clear, to avoid being labelled a Spammer or Claims-company sympathiser, that I regret that decision now I know how easy the process is.You were scammed by the bank and were scammed by the CMC
Yes, I was scammed by the banks but not by the CMC. I fully knew what I was entering into at the time but due to thinking I had no PPI, didn't expect to ever pay any fees or receive the balance of compensation.
But I would like to make it explicitly clear again, to avoid being labelled a Spammer or Claims-company sympathiser, that I regret that decision now I know how easy the process is.0 -

Okay....
It's actually less than 2 months. As such a money-saving guru I'd expect you to be able to count!0 -

Hi, I've just recieved a successful claim form and I am happy with the offer and what I have to pay the Claims Guys, what I need to know now is if I send them their money first will I get my claim money? I can't do it myself as my loan was absolutely years ago with Northern Rock, I have no details whatsoever of my loan, hence using these guys and I probably would have tried myself after reading some of the forum about them so I'm a bit confused on what I need to do next for my cliam :undecided
Any info appreciated.0 -
You could have done it yourself. All they did was write to Northern Rock and ask "Did Jim have PPI?"
You could have done that. Although you would have written "Did I have PPI?"0 -
Yep I know that now, thanks. But really, all I want to know is if they hold their side of the bargain? do they actually pay out? I haven't sent off the form or signed it, but if they do actually pay out then I will.0
