Do you have access to a printer? If so go to this thread: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1852031

and have fun printing out coupons. I just printed out £10 worth that can be redeemed in tesco or waitrose whether you buy the specified product or not. Different stores have different coupon policies (eg can only accept 4 coupons per shop) but some allow you to use as many as you like - it often depends on the checkout person's mood.

To test, I get a shop for a small amount (eg £2-3) and give them £2 of coupons and see what happens, just so I don't have to pay a big bill if they turn around and say no.

Another idea, see if your friend with the allotment has a spare cabbage, or buy one that has been reduced in the shop, you have an onion, boil some potatoes and mash them down well, sthinly slice the cabbage and par boil and dry fry the onions, then mix together with the mashed potatoes and make into little patties and you have bubble and squeek, and then you could individually freeze some so you have them ready. Again if you have some eggs poach one and put o the top of the bubble and squeek and you have a filling meal.

Where abouts in Wales, are you? If you're in the North West, I know some decent places for blackberries etc and also in Bangor, there's a great Indian-ish supermarket that sells all kind of lentils, pulses and veg much cheaper than any of the big four.

I'm down with that, I'll go look for anything nice I have if you're happy with that.

    Lucky I'm off poorly today!

Also, even with your family further away, can you not ask them for help - it wouldn't take 2 weeks for a package etc to get to you in the post?

I would buy value pasta, value toliet roll, value bread, value t bags, value tuna (do you have mayo), value beans, that is short of £3.

reuse you t bag - only use 1 bag per 3 cups for example.

    Beans on toast.

pasta with tuna and mayo for lunch, you will have to thin the tuna out quite a bit to last several lunches, but you could play spot the tuna at lunchtime.

pasta with tinned tomato and a little onion.

If you freeze yur bread and take a wee bit out as you need it, it will last you much longer.

Tesco are sending out their clubcard vouchers, has anyone received them yet, it just could help you if you have used your clubcard for points.

If you post on old style with list of everything you have in the cupboard, the ladies over on that board can work wonders.

That's true - I had a list of food I thought would only last 4 days and it lasted for 10 by the time everyone offered suggestions on how to stretch it all out - and there was still some left at the end end when I got paid.
