Hey BIW - I posted earlier about sending you any toiletries you needed. You didn't PM me but I went away this weekend (hotel money saving deals - nothing posh!) and pinched the lovely toiletries from the hotel room for you!!!!
Please PM me your address as I would like to send them to you - they are rather nice ones! (my OH has already moaned about the fact that I already have enough to last me a year - I didn't say that I'd pinched them for someone else!). I hope you won't be offended by this but I would like you to have them as your story has really touched me.
Oh and don't believe everything you hear about friends/former school friends lives - people have a way of glorifying everything and making their own lives seem wonderful. Not everything is what it seems so please don't compare yourself. Take one day at a time and start working towards doing things that you'd like to do - but take small steps towards where you would like to go.0 -
Hi
Have just read your thread on the other board re your landlady - deposit etc.
You have had some good advice but I understand perfectly that you are finding it all too much to cope with.
I did write to tell you that the CAB office in Cardiff is open just the outreach sessions (going to peoples' homes) isn't happening at the moment. You have had so many people writing to you I think you may have missed my thread.
Please please go to CAB and let them help you write letters/ring people. Explain to them that you find it difficult and they will help you.0 -
With credit cards and consolidation loans - that's how I used to do it though it was only european holidays
It will bite them on the bum at some point, I'm sure.
You're probably right! No doubt in a few years when I'm debt free, they'll all be moaning because they're where I am now! So really...putting it like that, I'm ahead of the game! :rotfl: xMortgage when started (Dec 2013): £157,272.50

Hey OP,
Have read your thread from start to finish, like so many others have said I am where you are in many ways. What I am astounded at is as has been said the kindness of others and by your strength. Today may have been a bad day but you're working towards a better day in the future. Keep your chin up!
I see you have been sent lots of food but thinking now of things to bring cheer too if you fancy some girlie gossip magazines to brighten up your day (when you soak in your bath stuff from the poster just above me) do let me know by PM and I can send some on!

Oh my word!
The kindness shown to BiW has almost brought me to (happy) tears. And I'm the one of the ones that didn't cry when Bambi's mummy died. Or Simba's daddy. So "almost" is a biggy for me
There have been so many good ideas that I may chore and incorporate in to my day-to-day living since we had an unavoidable car emergency that just cost us £127.
Everyone here is so amazing and good things are coming to you.
BiW, your thread has restored my faith in human nature!:j Hayley:j0 -
brokeinwales wrote: »Seem to have been in a bit of a mood since yesterday evening. I know that comparing yourself to other people isn’t the best way of living (and normally I don’t do it).But I ended up thinking about people – mainly colleagues, people I went to school/college with and stuff. I feel like there’s all these people the same age as me or younger who have their lives so sorted out. They have great jobs, they own houses and cars (I still haven’t passed my driving test), some of them are married with kids – everything is so organised and “grown up” and I feel like I’m still a teenager – renting my room in a shared house, juggling debts, living off beans on toast with no money to spare for anything else. It just makes me feel like I’ve made a complete mess of my life. Right now I should be thinking about mortgages, and savings and insurance and all those other things I don’t understand. Instead I’m thinking about whether it’s a waste of money to eat a whole tin of soup in one meal. I feel like such a child sometimes. Like if only I had a brain things would be so much better…
I'm 36 and I am not grown up, and actually I am OK with that. I earn £7 an hour, I messed up last year at college and I am scared to go back, my waistline has expanded, I am divorced and no kids, never learned to drive ... so what?
If you met me away from here I might impress you that I own my own flat outright, that I am a seriously good fitness instructor, that I am the life and soul of any party, that I "know a lot of stuff about a lot of stuff" (to quote someone on MSE!).I would show you the sides of me that I wanted you to see.
Look how many people have been compelled to post on your thread, look how many have returned to check you are alright. We read sad stories every day but only a few grab people like you have. That's one great thing about you right there and I bet there are loads more! Don't measure yourself by someone else's materialistic standards, bet your family and friends think you are perfect just as you are. :ADeclutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
Hi BiW, thanks for making this thread. The posts and offers of help are inspirational and I too feel that some of my faith in human nature has been restored.
Good luck in reaching payday without having to go without and to each and every payday after.
Best wishes
