  • Great thread and even going to look at some of the links myself as not come across them before!

My biggest bit of advice is already on here - all the cheap veg in a massive lot of soup which will last you several days and cost very little! Also very healthy!

Look forward to hearing how you manage and we're all rooting for you:j
    Thank you to all posters:beer:

Well done MSErs - what a fantastic bunch of people you all are:beer:.

The support and help on this thread have been brillant and quite humbling - good to see decent people still exist:T.

I can't add any more to what the others have said (I'm not that good at shopping on a budget - hence my debts:o) but if you really are stuck and I know you said you don't want to accept food from others but I would be more happy to send something should you need it.

I agree, it's lovely to see the compassion that people have. Just want to wish you all the best OP - I'll help if I can :)

Where are people getting 7p beans and 30p loaves.
At Tesco its 29p a can for value beans and 50p for value bread.

Yes please, where? the cheapest I have found lately was a pack of 4 branston beans for £1 in Lidl.

    Hi

Food parcel packed and ready to go.

Just one thing though you need to do a budget to find out how you've got into this situation, I'm making you a pad to use as a spending diary when you get paid so you can work out what you are spending money on and where you might be able to cut back on .

    Take care

I need some suggestions fast on how I can survive the next two weeks with no cash.

When I say literally - well, I have three pounds and a little shrapnel in my purse right now, but that's it. I've already borrowed off everyone I can think of.

My rent and bills for the month are paid, and I don't have to make any debt repayments until after next pay day. I've worked out if I get up early enough I can walk to and from work every day, so no travel costs. But I DO need to buy food - I have a few tins of tomatoes and beans in the cupboard, three quorn sausages in the freezer, one onion, some teabags, and a little pasta and rice - but I doubt it's going to last me the two weeks 'til payday.

Does anyone have any imaginative suggestions on how I can survive for the next two weeks without going really hungry?! Places to get free food maybe?

Not sure if this is the same as Angellic, cos this is on a different page

    Tin of toms
    Sausages
    Pasta

Cook the sausages and chop into small pieces
Add to the tin of toms (chop toms if need be) and heat
    Serve on cooked pasta

    Very filling and delicious

You can add flavour to your rice by mixing in a cheap packet of savoury rice (morrisons/sainsburys do own make savoury rice at 27p ish a packet)
Add about 1/3 more plan rice

If you check out the old style board I am sure there is a thread about when supermarkets have discount (knocked down) times..............my own sainsburys seems to be a wednesday but have your elbow at the ready and wade in

Washing up liquid for shampoo/shower gel, don't need much of it and it does make your hair very very soft

    Good Luck
