In my experince they dont get it. They seldom read notices and there's that many of them or they get fed up because quite frankly the only people who make money are rarely the ones that deliver them that the message dont get across. I am sick to detah of these, the company so be made to exclude customers who dont want this rubbish rammed down there letter boxes but they dont want that because they are exploiting people who seldom have little money. Shame on them.

From my personal experience, if somebody put up a sign saying "No Catalogues" I would leave the house, but those houses that had those blue-and-white "I do not buy and sell at this door" sticker I would drop at. The reasoning there is that I am not actually knocking on the door and asking somebody to buy something from me there and then, just leaving a catalogue. And I had many, many customers who had those in their windows but still bought from me.

A hand-made "No unsolicited catalogues" sign should really do the trick. Make sure it can be seen in the dark as well. If they still leave catalogues after that then I think you are entitled to throw/recycle them.

The first time I got a catalogue I put a polite note in telling them I didn't want to receive another.

The second time I binned the catalogue and got a stroppy agent at the door lecturing me (on my own doorstep) about how wrong that was.

The third time I carefully shredded the whole catalogue and put the remnants back into the polythene back which I left at the front door on the nominated collection day. I haven't had another catalogue since.

  • I just love your suggestion, Cheesy Mike !

The Agent called back today so I explained to her very politely that I have absolutely no interest in their catalogues and could she please not put any more through my door - one down, a dozen or so more Agents to go ...... !
