Do any of you guys know if the sure start registration for childminders is the same thing as the ofsted one? And does it qualify as being registered for childcare tax credits. All of this is new to me, can you tell.:o

All childminders need to be OFSTED registered. A registered childminder qualifies a parent for getting the tax credits.

As far as I'm aware childminders need to be Ofsted registered still. Sure start is a seperate thing and offers advice to childminders/carers etc but doesn't register them...

You need to give the Ofsted registration number of the childminder to the tax credit people - they'll check the with the childminder and issue you the reward accordingly. (Or that's how it worked when I childminded)

Ugh so they are 2 seperate registations then. AAGGHH I'm going to need a new childminder then because my lovely one just has a sure start registration. I've always just paid her myself so it's never been a problem before.

Thanks hon,I'd better get on with sorting it all out.

I did Becky and she just has a sure start registration. She doesn't work out of her house so I suppose she is classified as a nanny which sucks. She has loads of nursery nurse qualifications and has worked for me for 10 years, but I can't afford to pay her without funding so I can't use her.

Would she be willing to get ofsted registered? If she is working out of a setting rather than her home it would be the setting that is registered surely?

Evening all  Just got back from the dreaded SW and have lost another 1/5 pounds (6.5 in total) so am happy with that in 4 weeks...considering the amount I have been eating ;)

Another exhausting day in the x household...work tomorrow :( but it will mean a bit of time off!
Sorry I can't remember what everyone else has said today...brain dead!
