When they parked there was a space behind them. So they did take it into consideration.

That's an assumption too far. More likely when they parked the space behind was occupied and has since become vacant. Or that they parked in front of an empty space that became occupied and subsequently became vacant. Doh! that's 2 more assumptions too far.

yes i would have you seen all the disabled badges where they can run a marathon when they get out of the car
And all the cars with "Princess on Board" stickers in the back window. I never realised before that being ugly is a prerequisite for being a princess.

Doesn't this apply to anyone parking anywhere? I used to live in a city centre where all the available aprking required parallel parking unless you got an end space. Would it be okay for two people to park so close to me that I couldn't get out on the basis that I parked there knowing there was a risk of being parked in?

Even in a regular car park you take that risk. Just a couple of weeks ago I had to climb through from the passenger side because someone had parked so close to me. I am fairly thin and had parked more or less perfectly in the middle of my space but the person next me had parked right on the white line. If the person on the other side had done the same I couldn't have got in. Would you argue that I knowingly rant he risk of being parked in?

It is all about common courtesy to others. In normal circumstances people know how much space they need to leave to allow someone access to their car but since a disabled person needs more it is necessary for them to indicate this otherwise how will other people know?

    Parallel parking
Well, if you've been in Rome you will know what 'parking too close' means, the bumpers are literally touching all the way down the street. :rotfl: Can't be too precious about scrapes if you drive there!
Meanwhile, back home, most drivers with a little experience (even me) learn how to get in and out of fairly tight spaces, therefore surely unless the other two cars are each 2cm from your bumpers you should be able to get out?

    Car park (bay parking)
Whole different ball game i.e. the cars are parked side by side, not end to end so there can be access problems. I have seen the most horrendous parking in car parks.

Can you tell which one I prefer? :rotfl:

  • Doh...even disabled people can have children dont you know!
  • I am not disabled but a piece of advice....show a little repect and do not block this person in. Honestly it would be worth doing this .... the alternative could be a nasty scratch across the front of your bonet and flat tyres....who's inconvenienced now!

Surely all the disabled driver had to do was park the other wasy round and then there would have been no problem. Even the disabled should be considerate.

And I guess diabaled people are born, despite their afflictions, with the power to see into the future and predict from which end the nect car would be arriving. Grow up.

I undestand why you think like that as it seems many diasbled badge holders seem to think its their entitlement once they reach 60 yrs. It is then made worse by Mr & Mrs benefit fraud and worse still by people using their grannies badge when granny is not even in the car. But saying all that there are very genuine cases out there and we should respect that. I say weed out all those who have a disabled badge who dont need it...they are given out too easily.

I have a WAV for my son and need at least 8 feet to allow room for ramp and access to ramp.
I would NEVER park where this could happen.I have had this happen.I had even done a large sign myself for the back of vehicle when parking on double yellows and other disabled people ignored it!!!! Its not illegal but it is inconsiderate.
So now always park in a bay but end up holding up traffic when sorting the ramp and getting son in.:D
 Am thinking of a new one:beer:
