That's the problem underlay_guru, it could be anyone...
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

Totally. As an IT graduate I appreciate just how simple it is to put together a convincing looking website and obtain peoples details by defraud.

However, I think it is difficult for some Internet users to spot the difference between legit and dodgy sites (I often get calls from friends/family asking me to check out certain websites to confirm if they are dodgy or not).

I have also reported this to my local Trading Standards office to see if there is anything they can do.

Thanks everyone for all your help and advice.

A big lesson learned! Now have to start the hunt for a Ninteno Wii Console Bundle all over again! anyone know of any good deals out there?

I couldn't agree more PinkLipgloss. I've even got to the stage where I am doing a whois on just about every site I buy something from.

I know some scam sites are easy to spot, but others are SO realistic that it is very easy to get caught out...

I guess it pays to research any company you are planned to use for an online purchase...

Yeah, I have notified my bank and they have put a stop to the card and are issuing me with a new one.

What a terrible world we live in!

There wont be a lot they can do, as the site isn't registered in the UK. All they can do is add it to the list of scam websites they already have...

I got mine from Game (usually avoid them like the plague) as they had some cracking offers (and at least you know they are real)

It tells you information about the website, who it is registered to, where it's based etc.

First thing tio check for is if it is a .co.uk site, then is it based in the UK. You'll find 99% of scam .co.uk websites are registered abroad...

    For example:

    http://whois.domaintools.com/

Go there and put the name of a website in...
