Wish I had waited and booked my alterations elsewhere as I think they are probably fleecing me but I got them for half price when I bought the dress which is better than nothing. I know so many people that would do it for next to nothing. The only thing that makes me relax is they are more likely to bring it in earlier to get them done, if I was just picking it up then knowing my luck it would come into the shop the week before. I must admit it worries me that you are already getting it altered, I have no idea when mine is coming into the shop!

Sorry I should have explained better! I bought the dress a year ago off the rail in a one day sale - it has a little tear and is a size 14 when Im a 10/12. Its been bugging me for a year now as my dress is not perfect, i did have an appointment for a first alteration the first week of June - but the lady at this particular shop said she has many dresses to do so it would be best for her to start early - my second appointment will be a in months time. I'm prob will give her a tip also not very moneysaving but she has been awesome and saved me £400 on the bridesmaid dresses.

I wouldn't worry your shop will know what they're doing, but when it does come in maybe just have a quick ring around to see if you can get it cheaper or not.

We finally got the last invites out on Sunday and we are getting a couple of RSVPs a day which is great, hope everyone remembers to send them. Ordered vouchers to pay for our honeymoon this morning. Just been into my local Berkertex, found my dress almost straight away and even though I didn't order mine from there they have let me take some pictures. They don't do it justice but at least I have seen it again :D OH ordered the gifts for our male party members yesterday, I know what he got but now how many for so hope he has included my dad, I must ask.

What are you getting your mums as gifts?

Just been trying to find suitable organ music to walk down the aisle to- Mum phoned earlier to say that a friend of ours from the village would be 'delighted' to play the mahoosive organ in the church. Thank you very muchly- that will save us £60!!!

I've listened to so much organ music this evening that I got to the stage where it all sounded the same and I couldn't remember if I heard it already or not! I THINK (although I've changed my mind twice!) Handel's Arrival of the Queen of Sheba and then traditional Mendelssohn's March to exit will be my choices!

'Apparently' the organ consists of three manuals, thirty-seven stops and some 2,057 pipes...... lol... all I know is it sounds magnificent and that in itself will reduce me to tears!
  • Hi Brides (and grooms), I'm enjoying reading where you're all up to! :j
I've been struggling sorting suits and hen do for last couple of weeks, but finally getting there!!!

Decided to go to Liverpool for the night for my hen do, go on a short Mersey river cruise, do a cocktail class and then round a few bars rather than a club so mum can come - but hoping to have an additional smaller night out with my best friends too.

Suits - I really resented paying over £90 to hire each suit and OH didn''t want to risk using internet hire so we decided to buy, found a half price one that was fab in M&S Outlet and bought 4 jackets but only 3 trousers so have spent over a week trying to find a pair else where, but no joy! Got an email about an offer at Pronuptia in Bolton (just posted a thread) so have gone back to hiring, went and got that sorted for £60 each yesterday. So glad that's done and I now don't have to find matching waistcoats, cravats etc (buying sounded like a good idea at the time but hiring is def less stressful).
Wins 2012: Mascara, Yorkshire break, Year's supply of Wine!!
    Freebies 2012: £94

Best ever win - Ontario trip (honeymoon!)

We have just been to the travel agents to pay the balance on our honeymoon. The next big outlay is in June when we pay for just about everything else. While we were out I made an appointment for mid-May to sort out our notice to marry with the registrar. It will probably to take us that long to fill the forms in without making any mistakes!

    Aaaaaand- relax!

Hopefully third time lucky on the hairdresser! No.1 (my usual place) was very unaccommodating and 'couldn't possibly' get me and three bridesmaids out of the salon in time for a 1pm wedding, No.2 was booked and going well, but the NHS got involved and decided to schedule her son's op for the day before the wedding- No.3 is No.2's best friend who is also a hairdresser and now doing it for us! Pheeewwy!

Just finished printing names on envelopes and sealing them up- have written a list of little bits I need to do as early in the morning at work as possible! Nearly there.... I'll be SO pleased when I've finished making invite cards and they've been handed out!

OH is still in limbo with redundancy- going to be, but don't know when! Jobs come up, most too far away - and in the case of one he was interviewed for on Saturday, then gets told that the job isn't actually where he was told it was, it's another 45 minutes commute from an already 55 minute commute!!! It's such a pain as I'd quite like to book a familymoon, but at the moment we daren't commit to anything extra financially!

Saw a dress that would be perfect for my flower girl today as it is very similar to my BM one, just needs to be dyed. Have sent a message to my sister to see what she thinks
