Oooo, I hope so Esther. Thats what I've convinced myself in my head anyways, lol! I'm so impatient, I just want to know *now*! Feel like I can't really plan or buy anything else til I have a venue. I have a million things that I'm watching in ebay
I was exactly the same - at one point I had 171 watched items:eek:. Have you thought of a theme yet?Long time watcher:j New poster:mad: Celebrating her first star!!:T

Yes, well kind of. Want it to be very colourful, so have chosen yellow, turquoise, pink and purple. My little girl is going to be 5 when we get married, so I want it very kiddie orientated and fun.
I originally wanted shabby chic, and bunting and things as I did want it to be in a marquee, but things have changed a little now.
I have about a £2k budget, and 50 guests to the ceremony and about 150 to the evening do, so there will be a lot of homemade things to do, but me and my daughter love doing crafts.
I really like button bouquets that I found a link for on these forums, so want to have a go at making them, but it doesn't seem right buying things like that when I don't have a venue iyswim...Married my lobster in July 2011

Well, they rang me back and........ They're no longer allowing outside caterers! They stopped this weekend!
But they are going to quote on a simple buffet and get back to me by the end of the week, and they won't charge room hire if they do the catering. I had budgetted for room hire and outside catering, so am just hoping that their quote will come in around about the combined budget...
They did say I could take in any sealed things such as crisps etc, I could take my own cake etc and if I wanted an outside company like a chocolate fountain that would be fine as they have their own public liability insurance.
So my fingers need crossing again now while they get back to me on buffet quotes!!Married my lobster in July 2011

Yup, well it all just comes down to price now... I would prefer it if the venue provided the buffet, as there will be less stress than involving an outside company, and I suppose them ruling out me supplying any foods also relieves stress. But most places round us charge £10-£15 per head for a simple buffet, so it rules everywhere out.
The venue I'm looking at say they will charge less than that, but I'm not sure whether it will come inside my budget or not... I really would like a chocolate fountain, but realistically, I'm probably going to have to give my chocolate fountain budget to make sure I have a venue...
Pfft, this wedding organising is hard work!! Maybe we can save up extra money or sell some things to fund my chocolate fountain... (can you tell I'm a chocoholic?!)
Hehe, think I will defo be ringing them on friday if they haven't rung, or I will have no fingernails left!!Married my lobster in July 2011

its the one occasion where you have to pay for everyone to eat!- it costs so much money!!!
hehe im a massive chocoholic! and i have been looking at choc fountains- but they are soo expensive!! i cant help thinking though- how amazing it would be!!!!Is a married woman!! 23rd July 2011 Best day of my life!

Crikey - thats such a lot of money tho isn't it? Is that a hot buffet or a cold buffet?
Lol, you'll have to check everyones plates to make sure they have eaten it all up.
Hope they don't quote me too much( My OH thinks it will be too much, but I am hopeful...
I got a quote for £295 for the chocolate fountain. That was for unlimited chocolate and 8 unlimited dips, running time of 3 hours, including napkins, plastic bowls, skewers and a uniformed attendant. I really really really want a chocolate fountain after going to a wedding that had one, and had profiteroles to dip in. It was the most exciting thing ever, and despite it being more than 10% of my budget - I still want it!!Married my lobster in July 2011

mixed- cold and hot
only 55 guests- and they say to cater for 85% of the guests- so its not tooo bad
think my thing about the fountain is that our cermony is at 4pm- so the buffett is about 7.30 or 8. so 3 hours for the fountain seems too much- would rather just have an hour really. but havent seen any places that do that. oh well we wil just to have to dream lolIs a married woman!! 23rd July 2011 Best day of my life!

My ceremony is provisionally booked for 4pm as well
) We're going to start the evening do early tho, as people bringing children would probably prefer to come earlier, so am hoping the buffet will be out from 6-6.30ish and then the chocolate fountain from 7.30-8ish. Lol, thats if everything goes to plan and gets booked etc!!

Just discovered this
my big day is on the 16th, we have our ceremony booked for 4pm at a church and the reception for 6pm onwards in a hall, all very local to where we already live.
I wanted to share with you all something I read in a book about weddings - that a wedding is "a crash course in events management combined with a huge change to the most significant relationship in your life so far" and then went on to say that some little things were bound to go wrong and there was no use in worrying about it! I thought it was a really accurate description, and a good attitude to have, considering how easy it is to get stressed out about small details - has anyone else been doing that?0
