Hi, so im thinking of flying to New York this christmas around the start of December, is was wondering who the best people are to fly with and where the best deals are?
Also, Im a pretty nervous flyer to be honest and was wondering if its "safe" to fly in the winter? I know its safe, but theres more chances of storms etc?
Any advice or tips would be great
Thanks

You can get lots of turbulence on the way back from the US eastern seaboard, sometimes it can get really bad, up and down and side to side, doesn't bother me but people get scared and the children scream.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

It will just depend on the day how the weather is however the flight path of the plane will of course avoid any thunderstorms etc. You get turbulance on every flight, sometimes you feel it sometimes you dont.... so dont worry about flying in december more than any other month.
Try BA, Delta, Continental, US airways, KLM, Air France for flights.New York ♥..........These street will make you feel brand new, Big lights will inspire you.
No place in the world that can compare ♥ 2nd October 2010 ♥0 -
Have you been watching the weather systems passing through New York and Boston recently?
Storms come and go all year round, which is why Pilots have equipment to detect them - and then fly round them.
The safest part of the flight is when you're "up there"0 -

The Gazelle flew back from New York one February, and it was fine for the first hour, then after Boston to The UK, the seat belt sign was never off, it was like being on a tractor plowing a field, not nice!! I have had some rough crossings over The Atlantic, even in August when the plane felt as if it was like a roller-coaster, so it seems that the weather crossing The Atlantic makes no difference when you fly, of course I have had more good crossings than bad.
As for Carriers, I liked BA, and Continental and AA are pretty OK really, all much of a muchness, as long as they get you there, you have no worries.0 -
I flew to NY twice in December (2002 & 2007) with Aer Lingus.
Both return legs weren't to much trouble. Don't remmber much turberlance on thoese flights.
I liked flying with Aer Lingus and would fly again, Though there USA flights are via Dublin though you clear Customs at Dublin so when you get to JFK you go stright to bagge reclaim.0 -
... though you clear Customs at Dublin so when you get to JFK you go stright to bagge reclaim.
... which can be a major advantage - as anyone who's ever been through immigration at JFK can witness.
BTW: I went to NY through Newark airport for the first time last week. Arrived around 7 pm and it was like a wasteland. Absolutely no wait whatsoever.0 -
Thanks for the replies everyone..so immigration at JFK are bad?0
