Hi,
not come across this before so please enlighten me.
Sold a BIN item stating Paypal payment only. Supposed to send items withing 2 working days of received payment.
Got this email:
"This email confirms that you have received a Pending eCheque Instant Purchase Payment for 11.14 GBP from ....
eCheques may take your bank several working days to process. (Estimated completion date: 19 Aug 2009) Please do not post the goods until the funds have cleared into your PayPal balance. You will be notified by email when this has happened."
So I'm ok to wait untill I get notified that money has cleared?
Thanks for your help.

It's just a super slow PP payment (that can bounce, strictly speaking)
They're usually caused by a funding !!!!-up at the buyer's end.
It's advisable to let the buyer know, because otherwise they often believe their payment has gone through instantly. My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
If the buyer doesn't have enough funds in their PP account, then PP use an echeque instead and take the money out of the buyer's bank account, which normally takes forever (or it feels like it).0

Thats actually wrong my buying account very rarely has funds in and uses bank transfer which is immediate payment(have a look at paypal help section). It is normally caused by a credit card being out of date. Its worth contacting the buyer as sometimes they don't realise that this has happened and can make payments quicker.0 -
I've had 3 of these in the past 2 weeks.
Once I get the confirmation email to say I have rec'ed an e-cheque I send a quick mail to the buyer letting them know the date the cheque will clear. Provided the cheque clears I then send a mail confirming clearance and quoting estimated delivery. The shinbone is a device for finding furniture in a dark room.:TBig thanks to all competition posters:T0 -

Its actually when they don't have a back up funding of a credit card and so bank transfer is the only method of funding the account. Not everyone has a credit card. Really if your going to bid on something and you have no funds in your account you should transfer the money a week or so before. Although obviously you have to guess how much you need. Its a shame there is no way of instantly funding paypal accounts via Post Office or paypoints etc...0 -
Thanks for your responses. I emailed the bidder as suggested by frivolous_fay. She's new to ebay, I wonder if she does not have a credit card associated with the account. I'll suggest to her to have funds in her account prior to bidding so she can get her goods sooner.DEBT FREE OCTOBER 2012!Proud to have dealt with my debts!0

I have had 3 e-cheque payments (not on ebay) and every one has bounced.
Never send the goods until payment clears.0 -
I've had it happen to me once or twice when my CCs have expired and I have forgotten to update Paypal with the new card details

When I realised I just asked the seller to do a refund and soon as I had updated the card details the payment went straight through like a normal paypal transaction.DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!
