I don't know about "cure" but the so called experts tend to go with some types of depression being supressed anger. If that's the case with yourself, it looks like this thread may be helpful.
Seriously, I worked around depressive people for quite a while many years ago. I don't take it lightly as I've seen what it can do.0 -

Ah! Yellow!!!
Why didn't you mention that at the beginning - it would have saved pages of mickey taking :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Are you sure he has done 5 years at university and got a degree?
It can't have been in anything sensible :T0 -
OP - you aren't helping yourself here by getting angry at the negative posters. The angrier and more defensive you get, the more you invite criticism.
I think someone posted the info about loans a bit earlier, so if you/your oh really want to do this for this car, take the advice, laugh at the comments that criticise what you are doing and just shrug it off.
(By the way, my personal belief is that a car should be reliable, have 4 wheels and get you where you need to go. Anything extra on top of that is just expensive window dressing! But that's just my opinion)Working hard in the hopes of being 'lucky'

I think the OP said that the £9k deposit had already been put down
So I guess I needn't try to comment on the choice of car.
But as the bloke is a graduate, hopefully he'll soon be earning plenty
It's also worth bearing in mind the need to save for retirement. So if in 5 years he's saved up £99,000 and wants a Ferrari, he might wanna think about putting some into a pension!0 -
Right so he has 21k saved up and has used 9k for the car deposit. Leaving 12k for possible house. would he be able to maybe use half of this meaning he still has 6k in the bank but 15 for the car and only the need for a 5k loan? Dont know if I'm working it out correctly but 5000 at 10.9% over 5years would mean he pays back 7725 total rather than the £16545 total if he took out a 11k loan? Are you planning on buying a house anytime soon? If not with the interest rates the way things are at the minute, unless the 12k is in a fixed rate ISA it cant be earning enough to cover what you would be paying in interest on the loan.0

Just let them buy the car.
Complete mugs
I paid £27k just over 4yrs ago for my last car and it's now worth £12k - that's cars, but that's a car that holds it's value pretty well, not a Seat.
Can you or can't you afford the car ?
If you have £20k in the bank to pay for the car (no house deposit) then you can afford it.
If you need to borrow £11k then you can't afford it.... yet.0 -
Want and need are not the same think. Think he's got swine Affluenza.
Affluenza, great book by Oliver James if you've not read it - predicted this lot 12 month before it happened. Should replace Shakespeare (or Jordan or whatever it is this year) in schools.0
