I guess both of you must be fishermen and are used to dealing with maggots :rotfl: I have a cat and buy various cat foods depending on the offers because my cat will eat anything, but let me tell you if i opened a pouch/can and there was MAGGOTS I would chase the suppliers to hell and back................. If anyone thinks I would wipe clean 11 pouches cos one had burst around it then tough..... I paid for 12 sealed.......... The supplier can clean the other 11 and resell...............
Can't speak for "Kimberley", but, no, I'm not a fisherman ;)

I buy Royal Cannin for my cats and suppliment it with pouches, periodically. If I discovered maggots oozing from one pouch, yes, I might be inclined to let them know it had happened. I certainly wouldn't throw away the 11 other pouches if there was nothing wrong with them - that's pure wastefulness.

Eew! If you can't stomach taking the maggots to the store, my stepdad took a picture of his maggot infested grapes and took that to tesco instead after binning the grapes. Did you call the store or head office (as the store might be less keen for you to trail round there with a bag of maggots and might be more flexible on the matter of 'evidence').

I found maggots on my Dunsyre Blue Cheese. That will teach me to leave it out!

The maggots will in all probability only have got in after you got the food home. Any slight cut in the pouch will have been enough.

QUOTE: Who "forced" you? Surely it was a "choice" you made (albeit, limited; depending on your circumstances at the time - yet, I doubt you were truly "forced" ) I'm glad you're thinking "never again" because whosoever it was who "forced" you to buy the product (and who forced you not to return to the store with a legitamate complaint) clearly did not have your, or your cats, best interests at heart - yet, I somehow doubt it was Tesco who was doing the "forcing"; more a case of you "choosing". ;)

If you are dissatisfied with the quality of your goods, return them, with your receipt and if you are still given short shift, then do make a legitamate complaint. All these things are covered by law.[/QUOTE]

Firstly, being a disabled person who needed help to shop, the person who used to drive me to the supermarket (18 mile round trip) was unprepared to take me back to change the cat food. Secondly, the occasions I have been "forced" to buy their cat food has been because it would be the only thing left on the shelf. Thirdly, I used to have to make a special trip to Tesco because at the time it was the closest shop to me as the supermarket in my village closed down. With only one thing on a shelf, you don't get a "choice"

You judged me Aspiring, and that isn't fair! I bet you're an able bodied driver who doesn't need to be assisted with anything they do!!
Yaaay, I finally conned a man into making a honest woman of me. Even more shocking is that I can put the words "Happily" and "Married" into the same sentence and not have life insurance on my mind when I say it ;-)

Slightly off topic, but the same could be said for infant formula...

Not just slightly off topic but way off topic and I don't see what it has to do with this particular thread. I'm sure if you wish to discuss infant formula there are plenty of people on the various baby threads that will happily discuss it with you.

Glad the OP got it sorted out.

I can tell none of you are shelf stackers! Pet food aisle in august is a recipe for disaster! Never heaved so much as when I worked that aisle!

Just a quick comment about the antifreeze - ethylene glycol (the stuff that usually goes in your car radiator) is indeed highly poisonous and because it has a "sweet" taste, it is attractive to animals.

The stuff that goes in processed foods (human and animal) is propylene glycol, which is not as toxic and is used in very small quantities- it is used to keep food moist as it can draw in water from the air as well as maintaining the water in the foodstuffs, so it is used a lot in dry cat and dog food. It also has a sweet taste and so acts as a taste enhancer. It is usually not stated on the pack, but could be there under the blanket heading of “Contains EC Permitted antioxidant, colorants or preservatives”. The only way to find out whether it IS in there would be to contact the manufacturers.

Whether it should be in our food, or in animal food is another matter entirely!
