  • Namesco, I am so glad I got it when I did. Delighted with it however can any one tell me if the PPP light on the router should be on or off.
    Thank you in advance.

    Is Namesco advertising misleading ?
I subscribed to Namesco in March as I did not want to commit to a long term contract. They advertise a 30 days mininum term (on www.names.co .uk) and at the time had positive feedback on www.moneysupermarket.com.
I now need to terminate mysubscription as I am leaving the UK and it turns out that I will need to pay £58.75 and as my service "has been active less than 12 months and you have not paid annually". Are they allowed to advertise a 30 day minimum term and then apply a fee based on a 12 month term?

I am also being charged £47.00 "which is a ADSL Cease (non Migration) Charge". This fee was introduced by BT in May and Namesco is passing it on to customers although I am pretty sure that they did not communicate this change in any e-mail or letter.
There are now some negative reviews on moneysupermarket from consumers in the same positions. Do we have any recourse? Is anybody fighting the same battle?

  • I have just changed over to Talk Talk as I was fed up with being charged the admin fee by BT (all because I didn't want to pay via direct debit.) My broadband was with Namesco ( as I was under the impression there was no fee to leave as there was no contract) and my calls were 18866 with BT line rental. This all seemed to be ok until the £5 quarterly bill admin charge came along. I saw it as another way of ripping people off, so enough was enough; I worked out what was finacially better for me and I left them. My 'Talk Talk' became active yesterday (fingers crossed all good) but today I received a lovely email from Namesco. Here is the email....

    Thank you for your email.

As per our Terms and Conditions, you are required to provide us with 30
days notice to terminate/cancel your ADSL, as your renewal date falls
in your notice period, you will be charged for the next renewal along
    with a cease fee.

As per your request , we will arrange a cease with BT for you on the
    07/09/2007.

As your ADSL service with Namesco has been active for over 12 months,
there is no Namesco cancellation charge.

As you have requested cancellation, we will place a cease on your line
and there is a BT charge of £47.00 (£40 plus VAT) payable, which is a
    ADSL Cease (non Migration) Charge.

    Total amount payable is £47.00

Please contact our Customer Services Team on 0845 363 3633 to make
payment. If this is not done by the 28/08/2007 , payment will be taken from
the card stored on the account.

    I hope this assists.

    Kind Regards,

    Lynne McGuinness

Did you cancell your ADSL or did you get a MAC code ?

I understand the £40+vat is a charge levied from BT and nothing to do with Namesco so they are just passing on what they got charged , if you got a MAC code and transfered to TT there would have been no charge whatsover as transfers are free
