OS chums
Bitsy - Well done to Mr B!
Lesley - No - haven't found a car that really suits except one that was £7000 in extra payments so that priced it right out of our range unsuprisingly, so it will probably have to be another Touran if we can get the grant for it. If not - I guess I will have to get my very first car loan ever, which is not something I am looking forward to.I have never had a loan in my life.
Witch - Well, it's only the Grant Application, but at least it is finally all done. You have to send in proof of all savings and wage slips and as my OH has two jobs - one self employed he had to dig out his tax statements etc and then the form is huge so it took ages to do! Describing all the cars we had test driven and why they were/weren't suitable took two pages...:rotfl: Now we just wait!Redruby - I always use Mysupermarket via ipoints so I get points towards vouchers AND find the cheapest supermarket though it always finds Tescos as the cheapest for me without exception. And well done to your OH.
January20 - Nice to see you posting hon
tired mum - I hope you and DS have a good day at the camp
Hester - fingers crossed for OH's contract
helyg - Hope you enjoyed your camping weekend hon
Ivy - thank you hon.. the only car that was really comfortable was nearly £8000 so we won't be having that one!!
taplady - glad you are feeling better honMy OH went to help a workmate move house yesterday. He was only gone about an hour and a half and came back with two boxes of Westaways butchers sausages as apparently the friends wife works for them and gave them to him as a thank you. 7.2 kilos of free sausages! Three different types which is good as I am fussy with sausages and so I am bound to like at least one of them! The gardener didn't turn up again over the weekend and my OH has decided we aren't using him again, which is OK, but now I have to advertise and find someone all over again and we are running out of summer!Dinner will be sausage and bean spicy casserole-y thing. Weather has gone grey again so prob won't hang the washing out - the bathroom and the airer will have to do the chinese laundrey thing!I hope the week starts well for all of you.. Warm gentle
to anyone who needs one today.

Morning all
Hubby's on lates this week, so I've not long dropped him at work & now I'm sat on here with a cuppa, 2nd lot of washing is on the line, 3rd load in the WM. DW's finished & will be unloaded soon. I've been to the bank & popped into the charity shop next door & got a copy of Over hill & Dale by Gervase Phinn, all about a school inspector.
I got chatted up while I was out, it took me a while to realise it, it's been so long, nice chap but he didn't have his guide dog with him, lol.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Good Afternoon all! have had a lazy start as couldn't sleep so came downstairs for a couple of hours....then couldn't wake up properly, of course! Since then i have been having a "15minute morning" - tackling various jobs 15minutes at a time. Working well, so far - have a tidy kitchen, living-room and cloakroom and have cleared some outstanding paperwork. 15minute break now! Will probably take time out to walk dogs next, then lunch, then back to it. Hope you are all having a good day.Resolution:

Hi all, just had my lunch.Very damp and gloomy here-no chance of any washing going out.
Been doing a big shop at Mr Ts,not done one for ages and we were looking a bit bare,so cost a bomb, and that was with all the meat and a chicken reduced.I've not finished putting it all away yet.
Not much housework today-did it all over the weekend in readiness forthe latest house viewers, who didnt show up  ,which meant we stayed in tidying on a gorgeous Sunday for nothing. We gave them 35 minutes, then decided to go and have tea in the pub as we were so fed up.Tonights tea is the salmon we didnt have yesterday
Right the shopping won't put itself away so I'm off-hugs to those who need one.x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Hi everyone
It was morning when I started reading this honest, I went back to read Friday, Saturday & Sunday's posts to catch up on everyones news, did some cleaning/sorting and came back and its almost 2pm eeeek! Still have shirts to iron, dishes to wash and washing to put away. Weather grey and dull here with the occasional shower, but we had a lovely sunny weekend so I'm not complaining and it means I can put the washing off for another day lol!
MeanMarie - Sorry to hear about the car and that you've had to postpone your holiday. Glad to hear they've found it though and keeping fingers crossed for you all that it hasn't been damaged and you still get to go on holiday albeit a later than planned.
Sunnyday - I watched an old River Cottage Autumn last week when I was poorly and Hugh made some scrummy looking Beetroot Chocolate Brownies recipe is here http://www.channel4.com/food/recipes/chefs/hugh-fearnley-whittingstall/chocolate-and-beetroot-brownies-recipe_p_1.html they also made a beetroot ice cream and beetroot & apple crumble, so maybe you could try making a pud with your beetroots? I fancy making the brownies if I can find some beetroots that aren't in a jar covered in vinegar!
I plan a couple of hours of knitting watching the TV later, DH borrowed a new keep fit game for the Wii and he had to do the He Man thing so can't move much today, I did warn him :rotfl: so he wants to take it easy today and not go for a walk as planned. I'll stitck with WiiFit as it doesn't try to kill me lol! Right better get on, hugs to everyone, have a good day and if today turns out carpy may tomorrow be better

MSD - Wonder if there is anyone who wants to garden share if you can grow Veg etc., and would do it in return for a share of the crop?

Afternoon all.
I'm feeling a little lost today, as Molly-Dog went home yesterday. No more little black face greeting me in the mornings.
Luckily Mr LW is w*rking from home today, or I think I'd be climbing the walls.
We have to go into Central MK when he finishes, as his ancient brolly finally died on Friday, and he wants a new one. I need to go in anyway, as I have to collect some meds, and also there's a couple of bits I need for the kitchen, so we'll do it all in one go.
The last batch of Birsay biscuits I made were a success, so I made some more yesterday; might just have one with the cup of tea that's just been put in front of me,;)
Have a good day everyone; ((((HUGS)))) to all who want/need one today. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
DD seems to have recovered from swine flu (cross fingers) and has promised to cook me a special brthday meal on Thursday.
Have suggested to DH that with the money this will save (instead of six of us going out to a restaurant) I might get myself a cast iron pan if I can see a good deal........
He did not actually object (although he might when the 18cm and 20 cm Chasseur saucepans arrive) - he might object even more when the large round casserole pan arrives to keep them company.
They were about half price on Amazon and it would have been wasteful NOT to buy them- besides I am trying to stock up on things before he takes early retirement in January.;)
Whenever DDs watch "Come Dine with Me" I have been making comments like "oooh look "they" have a cast iron pot!" and sighing wistfully.
DH just looks scared!!!!
An elderly relative has just had a stroke and is in hospital so we have been going there as much as we can but at nearly 90 miles each way - it is difficult.
Just popping out to get meat to make my own kebabs tonight to have with salad, might make kofa kebabs too.
DD brought a friend back yeterday to pick up a few home made hobnobs I promised while he was looking after himself while parents were on holiday.DDs very impressed.
Hugs to everybody and see you later."This site is addictive!"

Well, have got my replacement car at last but my own still hasn't been examined, not sure when that is going to happen....seem to have to chase it up myself and temper is getting shorter and shorter.
Having roast chicken for dinner, forgot to take steak out of freezer, but at least 2 days taken care of now, any surviving chicken will go in freezer for curry, sweet and sour or whatever.

:hello:Good afternoon!
It's not raining here yet.....so I've got some washing on the line and hoping it will stay dry. We invested in one of those square sock/pants dryers from Lakeland last year and it's really handy, as if you have to rescue the washing from the rain at least you can grab all the socks at once
The only problem is that sometimes a peg gets detached while the dryer's not in use, but it's easy enough to hook them back on again.
We went to the craft show, or "Country Fair" as they were calling it, in the park yesterday, but when we got there it looked very small and we could see there were no car dealers there, so decided against paying £5 each to get in  Went to a local Kia dealer instead to look at a Carens, but it was a small showroom and the only Carens they had, had been sold, so we couldn't sit in it or anything, though DH did get a brochure. They had the new Kia Soul, which is much bigger than it looks in the adverts - we really liked it, but it's not on the Motability scheme as yet.
This morning we went to the local Vauxhall dealers and had a discussion with their Motability man, and sat in a Zafira - we both liked it very much, so will have a test drive at some point unless DH decides there's no need to bother! He's due to order the new car in October, so no huge rush atm.
Glad to hear those with Swine flu seem to be improving or better!
Dinner tonight is pasties from the butcher's
but they are very tasty with lots of meat and veg in them. We have bought some of their chipolatas for tomorrow, and I have a cauli which needs using soon so will have that then as well. I keep wondering about meal-planning, but it's never worked in the past as I never know what I'm going to be well enough to cook
I do manage to cook double quantities and freeze them though, so that's something.
We had an email from DH's elder sister the other day (she has MS and a problem with her spine, and lives in Gtr Manchester, so what with her health and ours we don't see her very often - I'm very fond of her, but she usually rubs DH up the wrong way as he still sees her as the bossy big sister
) - so he's in the other room replying to her email as she needed to know what his diagnosis (of his back problem) was, in the hope it may help her specialist decide what's wrong with hers, as her symptoms are similar. I think I will email her too later, as DH has never been renowned for his social letter-writing skills and will forget to tell her most of the family news.
We had a bit of a de-clutter y'day as we'd arranged for the council to take some bulky rubbish away, and DH unearthed some rather old bottles of booze originally bought by DS. He found several bottles of French lager Best Before April 2004, and some Bacardi Breezers BBE Jan 2005
I emptied them (down the sink, before anybody asks
) and put them in the glass-recycling box to be collected on Wednesday. There were already 2 cough medicine bottles and a Gaviscon bottle in there, so they're going to think we've had a very odd party :rotfl:
((((HUGS)))) to everyone.0
