Wet here and forecast to be showery all day:mad:

Think it is cool enough today to have a meat pie (a tin use up day) I will make some extra pastry (well the FP will, mine's like leather) and freeze it so that I have some in when I want some, and may make an exta pie and freeze that.

BM needs to go on, I will leave washing until tomorrow when have a chance of getting it dry outside.

    Morning all :hello:

No sun here yet, but its dry and warm so who knows

Off out today to Tewkesbury to meet BIL and SIL (the nice ones) for a belated birthday lunch. We never know what to get each other for Birthdays etc so we meet up for lunch. Tewkesbury is about half way so it suits us all, and afterwards we can go browsing the shops and then for a walk along the river.
The pub we meet at is opposite the Abbey, so its easy for a wander round.
So it looks like not much OS'ing here today

Suppose I could do the ironing before we go  hmmm maybe I'll give that a miss ;)
redruby - WELL DONE to your OH what a bargain spotter :T
nic - glad DD is starting to feel better now

    Have good days all

    good morning

had a lovely weekend at my Dsis this weekend , she really looked after us and she cooked lovely food all old style :D :A she has had a difficult time as her OH and 2 of the 3 DS are out of work. she has had to work extra hours to meet the bills and she does remarkably well, she is so upbeat and she puts me to shame with her ability to make ends meet and stretch food ( she didnt even know about MSE till I told her this weekend!) I am hoping she will join us but she she isnt very computer literate.

I have loads of washing to do and its raining
the house is tidy on the surface but i really need to go through the kitchen cupboards and clean them out, its a job I hate

Nic glad DD is feeling better

I'm really losing it folks. Wandered around Tescos yesterday with my meal plan/list and ended up spending £78. We have cut down on loads of things ,got a better deal for insurance, canceled unecessary DD's,not had a holiday but it's not working.
Also I've ended up saying yes to an expensive meal out on Weds.
Don't really know what I'm doing
It takes a while to get into the swing of a tighter budget. You have a great start with the cheaper insurance and unnecessary DD's.

A couple of things that have helped me trim our grocery budget is downshifting (recommended by Martin and many here,) to store and basic store brands. Try a couple and see if you like them, if so, make them your usual brand to buy. If not, you don't have lots of something you don't like to use up. There are tons of threads here on the OS board that can help more with grocery savings. Keep trying and don't give up. It won't happen overnight however it will happen.

Good morning everyone. Rain here today so an inside day for me. The laundry is all caught up and not much ironing to do. The flat needs a good deep cleaning today so I shall jump into that shortly. Then perhaps a nice nap this afternoon. I've not been getting enough sleep lately. Staying up much too late and I'm feeling it.

Tea tonight is cottage pie from the freezer and some veg. Sent DH off with his packed lunch to work. That makes the meals sorted for the day. :)

I hope everyone has a good and peaceful day. Lots of (((((GentleHugs))))) to those who want and/or need one.

    Morning all,

Rained during the night but nice morning now, maybe clothes I put out on Friday will finally dry!

Nothing exciting happening to-day, must make some bread for DD3 and might make some fairy cakes or similar for grandchildren, we have lots of weetabix cake but they are not mad about it.

Might have an apple off my own 'eating' tree this morning as a treat...they are an early variety and don't keep....was interested that someone had picked all their apples...I just do it as I want until October and the only 'cookers' I have available are windfalls, main ones not nearly ripe yet.

Not sure what is for dinner to-night, hopefully there is steak in freezer which will be nice and easy with turnip and spuds...need to get spuds though as I used the last of the others yesterday.

Sile is finding it tough enough having a collar on to prevent her messing at her wound...seems in good humour though and is eating well....we brought Thunder in to her for a 'visit' yesterday and they had a great time chasing each round the room....don't really want too much running around so just unite them for a while at a time.

Hugs to all in need or want, have a good day all

    :j Morning all,

I did it ! Just over a thousand miles driving to germany and back on my own!! and its been an enormous confidence boost!Thank you all who believed i was capable, :A Had a wonderful time looking after Ds3's house and cleaned it from top top to bottom, washed all i could find, left meals in the freezer for the family, and fed, cleaned and talked to their pets [in very bad german :D ]

Was very busy the last week i was there as had a small lad to unexpectedly look after as his guardian had to go into hospital as she is a single mum expecting twins! As you can guess i've come home for a rest!!

Today i have to make bread, washing is on, so its a cobweb removal job and damp dust to ease myself back into home .Weather dull here but muggy so probably rain later, you have had a lot here while i was away, the lawns on the 'estate' are a nightmare and will need attacking soon.

Happy birthday to those i missed
Big :grouphug: to all who want or need them

    Have a great day everyone

  • Well done Caz! You must feel justly proud of yourself (and I wish I had your energy!!!).

Still pretty quiet in the FE Household at the moment. Had a bit of a scare over the PG last Weds and spent Thurs morning in hospital, but had a scan and thankfully all is OK with the baby. DH reckons 'it' is looking much more like a baby and less of a blob! I couldn't actually see the screen as I was crying (with happiness!), so thankful that all was OK, but we have a 'proper' scan coming up on Friday so I will have a good look then!

1st midwife appt this afternoon. Bit nervous, but sure it will be alright really - just hope we get on OK!

OS-Wise I have been having a good clearout in the house (4 bags to the charity shop on Sat - but it doesn't show - house still far too cluttered!), writing lists of what we 'need' and what I 'want' for the baby and working out how to recycle bits of furniture we have for the baby's room - I reckon I can get away with the only major furniture-buying being a cot!

Got to get back to meal-planning properly too - now I am feeling less sicky and should be able to spend more time in the kitchen and around food! Tonight I plan to go through what's in the freezer and store-cupboard, as my list is way out of date.

    Have a good day everyone,

    FE

Glad everything is ok FairyE (((hugs)))
Glad too that your DD is feeling better Nic. The after effects of this flu seem to go on and on - or maybe it's just DH and me. Wiped out easily. Having said that, we painted the livingroom on Sat. I did the touch up bits with the brush while he did the roller stuff. Went to the beach yesterday for a little walk along the prom with dogs.
Tea tonight is left over pasta and sauce for me and sausage casserole from freezer for DH.
    Older dog's bedding in machine.
Lazy day planned. Didn't sleep much for my sore shoulder - it's been playing me up. Got up and rubbed that volter-something cream on it - first time I've used it. It took the pain away but I was aware of all other aches and pains as I lay in bed :rotfl:
Ok, 30 mins with my book and then I'll tackle a job.
(((hugs))) to those who need one today
