Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Mon 10th August! It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.

Morning.

What a surprise it's raining for a change! Miserable is'nt it? Work for me and so it does not matter too much, except that the roads will be jammed full of cars with bored people having nothing to do.

Manged 2 days now not spending money. Let the household pot get too low, have to economise until pay day. So no quick trips to Asda for bottle of wine and something for tea!
Got some Amerian stuff yesterday. A freind got it for me from the US Navy base, so am in possession of BBQ sauces, jerky, Pancake syrup etc... :D.

Well folks have a nice day

    Morning n9eav & all who cross/follow

nice here so far today, i`m pretty sure that rain is forecast later but i hope that it will end up being the same as yesterday and not materialise.

I went down the garden this morning to open the greenhouse window and out strolled the cat  calm as anything, she has a habit of sitting in there amongst all the plants and is difficult to spot, i need to keep a closer eye on her really as she gets everywhere :D

Well we now have a leaky loo, the bit that is cemented into the soil pipe is leaking water, it`s only a slow drip so i`ve put a container underneath it to catch the water and i think that we shall have a new loo later so only looking for a temporary fix really, I`ve seen some nice bathroom suites about and although we were having this done later rather than sooner it will have to be brought forwards.

I have found a couple of different beetroot chutney recipes to try but i`m not sure on either one so if anyone has a tried and tested one would you mind sharing please? I always prefer one that comes recommended then i know the results will be good :D

Washing will be ready to hang out when i get home later and i have some chicken pieces to cook and a chilli to make so i think that today will be a kitchen type of day if i`m not too tired later, i haven`t been making too much food lately as we can`t fit anything else into the freezer - its full of hm stuff :D

Anyhow i`ve rambled enough for now, have a good day everyone.

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p

Morning Chums ,still warm and humid here ,but I slept a bit better last night ,only because I was so flipping tired I think.
This morning I have to drop my DGS off at his fishing lake where he will spend all day with his pals catching fish to weigh and throw back in again !!! Must be a man thing. Then follow my DD to the garage where she can drop off her car for an MOT fingers crossed it passes. Then back to DD's to help one of the other boys with his holiday homework. Only 11 more days until our holiday.
Hope everyone has a good day whatever you do
    Cheers JackieO xx

    Morning all

Grey and a slight drizzle here, supposed to be like this for the rest of the day too. Still at least we had a lovely weekend, it is usually the other way around:D

DD much better at last, Tamiflu must have worked eventually, it is nice to see her nearly back to normal, although she tires very easily.

Work day today, I am in office now and just having a coffee before I start properly - we have an early surgery on a Monday and Wednesday so I have to be in fairly early to get ready to let Patients in at 7.00 a.m.

Tea tonight will be spag bol (taken out of freezer this morning to defrost) I think that was the last spag bol I have made in the freezer so will have to look through and see if I need to do some more batch cooking on my day off this week. I know that I have used the last lasagna and shepherds pie so looks like a quick run to Costco for some mince (I really like their meat, not cheap but good quality!)

Anyway must crack on now, have drunk my coffee better start!

    Have a good day all

    Morning all,

Beautiful blue skies here. Not very cold either. Spring weather. I had to wash the floors again this morning. Benny had made a real mess of them. Heavy dew. Made a loaf of bread & a slice. It's yum. Had 2 pieces for arvo tea. DH went to work after lunch. Ironed & did a few odd jobs around the place.

Off to visit a friend tomorrow and then on the way back will pick up DGS. Not too sure what the plans will be but if there like last time I had him during the week and DS1 had him weekends. He's here for 3 weeks this time. Off to Bingo tonight. The jackpot was won last week. Boo hiss. I see we got a good result in the cricket yesterday. :D

Sunnyday I've made beetroot relish before. I couldn't tell you what it tastes like because I hate beetroot. But DH & DS1 who eats it said it was OK. Which means it was edible. :D I'd try other recipes first.

Hope you all have a nice day & <hugs> to those not well. Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

    Morning all,

Beautiful bright day here, have got a wash on, and will hang it out in a while.

Yesterday we picked all the apples off the tree in the back garden, I have already given three loads away, and have a huge amount left, guess what I will be doing later

Need to have a hoover through and get dd to change her bed and get that all washed.

OH sold the binoculars last night for £290 :T:T which will go into the new house fund, need to phone round the estate agents again today to see if anything new has come up.

Tea tonight will be roasted veg and cous cous for dd, and we will have the same with a chicken breast.

Ok need another cuppa, have fun all x

    morning everyone

The rain has finally returned here but we've had a glorious weekend so don't feel like I should complain:rolleyes:.I've got a pile of material to turn into curtains and the kids want to play Monopoly so shouldnt be a boring day. With the wet weather comes the housework as I promised myself no indepth cleaning whilst the sun was shining so I'll be deskanking and cleaning the living room and dining room today.I took some mince out of the freezer yesterday so that will be made into a tea of some description.OH and I are both Low Carbing so it'll probably end up as beef stew or a chilli as all of us can eat that and it saves me making two meals.Yoghurt is out of the maker and straining so thats dessert sorted too.I need to put the bread maker on later for the kids as we arent allowed it on the diet

My OH is on a late tonight so will be lurking round the house till lunch and then gone till tomorrow morning so will have to find a good movie to watch with the kids tonight

Hope everyone is fit and healthy today and that the dreaded piggy pox has not struck anyone down overnight. ((((((((hugs)))))))) for those that need them

A glorious day here - so far!
I spent yesterday trying to do a meal plan for the month:eek: - only got as far as 16th August:rotfl:I managed to batch-cook 1kg of mince and get it in the freezer in the form of 2 shepherd's pies, one portion of chilli mince and we had one portion for a bolognaise last night. There is only me and DD home at the moment - should 1kg of mince gone further?

Will spend today doing some more packing - I may even venture into the loft:eek:. The house move is imminent (sp?) - just waiting for one party in a chain of 5 to finalise paperwork then we can all exchange. I hope we get moved before kids go back to school.
OS wise, have got the BM on and a wash load ready to go on the line.
Must pop into the village to get some PVC fabric to make DD an apron for school.
    Have a good day peeps:j

I'm really losing it folks. Wandered around Tescos yesterday with my meal plan/list and ended up spending £78. We have cut down on loads of things ,got a better deal for insurance, canceled unecessary DD's,not had a holiday but it's not working.
Also I've ended up saying yes to an expensive meal out on Weds.
    Don't really know what I'm doing:o

    Morning everyone.
Late on here today as I decided to tackle my Flylady list first.
Not much going on here today. Weather cloudy but dry. No idea for how long though. It had better pick up by next week as we are off on hols - our second attempt after disaster in June with poorly kids.
Not sure what's for tea tonight. Might have a nose in the freezer.
Picked up some reduced mushrooms yesterday (2 very large punnets) so will be spending some time this morning chopping those and cooking them before freezing them. Would like to bake a cake too if I get chance but depends on the kids.
Had better go. DD keeps eating the fake coals off our electric fire and I need to go and sort her out!
Hugs to those that need it.
Have a good day OS or not.

Nic1lou2 - glad your DD is feeling better.
