Have you asked the agents what is going on?

Who exactly are those offering and what relationship do they have with the original family member/s.

Trouble is no one is normal these days and some people seem to thrive by moving in mysterious ways. I am not a fan of 'investor' buyers but if they are the only ones well!!!!

Thats the odd thing, we have also had a better offer on the same day (better by 8K, but our EA doesnt seem as interested in this one, as they have a FTB interested in there house, and our EA says the mortgage offer to the FTB will be lower than the FTB expect, so its less likely to proceed.

Whats also confusing is that the house we like is being marketted by our EA, so its all confusing to me at the moment!

Very difficult for us (the forum) to get a feel and in my experience it is a case of being in the middle and feeling it through relying quite a lot on gut feelings.

What your EA says about the FTB could well be true but they need to explain it all bit by bit to enable you to see they are giving you the best advice.

Do you trust them - EA?

it does sound strange. i'd speak to your EA and ask them what they know. the question of how to proceed is then up to you and how you feel about the whole thing. if you are not in a rush to sell then you could maybe refuse the offer and see where it goes from there.

I felt they were more professional than most (thats why we went for them) but have a sneeky feeling they are pushing for the investor deal as it is more likely to complete, and their commision would only be slightly smaller than the larger offer. Whereas for me its 8k which is alot!!

The more I speak to the EA, the more I feel their questions are beginning to be loaded 'would you go with the investors offer if they gave you an extra £1k and then forget the other offer, its only 7k less then, could you increase your mortgage by that, its not much?' .Before we even know the outcome of the better offer involving the FTB

They are negotiaing with me to accept a lower offer, rather than negotiating on my behalf to get a higher offer from the investor, and dont seem to be chasing up the other better offer.

So to answer you question, I do trust them (ish) but they have their own agenda, and I think they are acting on offers that are best for them rather than best for me at this stage.

The money is a lot so why not arrange to go in to see them and ask them to go through slowly as to her arguement saying you are not convinced they are doing the best thing for you. I do agree though many EAs will do what they can to get a sure sale even if the fee is a little less.
