I feel a bit stuck in a DFW rut, We are making good progress but it seems to be going on for ever. We seem to be under a lot of pressure with money at the money. Not so much the bills but the things that catch you out, birthday meals out and presents. Last night we went out for a meal with the famliy we had a lovely time but it cost £60 for 3 of us.

    Today I have

    - Been to the Gym
    - Daliy cards 40p!
    - Breakfast at home
    - Sold a book on Amazon for about the same I paid for it.

Off to work in a bit.

    Hi all

had the most random but lovely weekend so far
Yesterday mate asked if I wanted to go to a show with her as she got free tix from an aquaintance from about 20 years ago who used to be in a cheesy boyband. So went along and turned out to be a gig by David Byrne of Talking heads. Our mate ray was the backing vocal. Was a great show which cost nothing and it was fun chatting to ray at the after show party. Dont know why david byrne was walking round in his pjs but hey ho.

In the afternoon we went out for a not very money saving pub lunch but I am not even going to apologise cause it was great lol

today, not done much, been to church this morning and got given a lovely big bunch of roses and lillies for helping out doing the bbq on friday which was great surprise but means i now have to tidy lounge so I can vase them and enjoy them properly.

Not got much else planned aside from filing/paperwork and cleaning. Done one quick wash and about to put another one in

do dishes by hand rather than use dishwasher
go to work for a shower
search the house for something scrummy to eat....i have cravings
collect dd who is doing her paper round

and thats aboutit. Wil be back properly on monday :)

  • Afternoon all, a bit late posting today!:j
Got up early and went to Boot fair this morning! (Not selling but buying) so not a NSD!! I was ill last year and put on about two stone and shot up two dress sizes! Glad to report so far I have managed to lose a stone of that but discovered all my summer clothes are too tight still! So have replenished my summer wardbrobe now - managed to get nine really nice tops for £8!!

So still to do the usual (after a rather nice nap!):
    • Daily comps
    • Daily scratch
    • Daily lotteries
    • Look through freecycle
    • Watch a Blu Ray disc
(hired 4 out for our anniversary and have the week off)
Generally relax as have the next two weeks off to do everything else!! Hope everyone else has had a great weekend!:T
    Thank you to all posters:beer:

Hi everyone - sounds like most people have had great weekends, especially you Angelflower out carousing with celebrities! I actually had a pretty pooey day today. :oThe four of us set off to Somerset in the car, which started making a horrible noise just outside Dorchester. To cut a long story short our car has now been towed to a garage in the country somewhere and we had to get the train home.:sad::sad:

    Today I
    1) Made the most of my breakdown service by getting to use it just before it runs out!
    2) Got a free ride in a breakdown truck which for T was quite the experience!
3)We bought bread and cheese and cookies for lunch and ate them in the park at Dorchester which was actually really lovely despite our woes.
    4) Bought B an adult train ticket home as 3 adults was actually cheaper than 2 and 1 child.( T is too little to have to pay).
    5) We had cashed in some Walkers points for free entry to a NT garden in Somerset, and although we didn't use them today we still can another day. This will save over £30 to get in.
    6) I will save a fortune in fuel over the next few days!

Right - off to mow the lawn then hit the bottle tonight I think! It's not so much what happened today, rather the worry that it will not be cost effective to fix our v old banger and that we will have to find the money somehow to buy a new car.

    Enjoy your Sunday evening!

Sorry to hear about the car Lurlene but glad you managed to salvage the day and still have a good time.
I had just cancelled my never used breakdown policy when we managed to be involved in an accident on the motorway, a tow to a breakdown depot and 3 days storage until car was scrapped cost me £270:eek::eek: Needless to say I am now well covered in case it ever happens again.:o

PS I agree with T - riding in a breakdown truck is fab :)
