Dotty - don't buy a freeview box -if you have already got Sky, you can cancel, pay £10/£20 (can't remember which, and their website doesn't make it clear anymore, you'd have to call them) - and it changes your existing sky equipment into a 'Freesat' box - which gives you mnay more channels than freeview, and would be cheaper than buying a freeview box.

Hiya Lynz, got 6 years statements back and been going through them however theyve underlined all charges and although the usual ones for unpaid cheques and DD's stand out, they usally charge £10 for the maintenace of the royalties gold account, however some months the charge has been £30 or so - i find this confusing as i dont know weather or not i should be including these?
If so i reckon it may come to about £1500, which would make a big dint in the overdraft of 4K at least - only worry being they might get snotty and request i pay back the other £2.5K immediatley??
As for the £190 they took in charges last week, i phoned and they said they would look into this when i complained - no refunds gone in as yet - typical with my luck!!!!!Focusing on clearing the credit cards in 2018 :T0

Every charge like your going over your overdraft, failed standing orders, failed direct debits should all be included in your calculations. Not the money for the "gold" account, you chose that.
I take your point about them potentially closing your account. However, there has been quite detailed discussion on the bank action group forum about this, and apparently people are complaining to the ombudsmen for being threatened with account closure for it, as seemilgly this seems illegal too.
How about your personal account? I usually go over my overdraft every month ( trying to be better now, but still did it last month ) so I reckon my credit ratings shot to hell. Still got the go-ahead for a new account with Alliance & Leicester though, just waiting for the no to come through then Im moving my wages & bills accross to that asap . you might be surprised who else takes you on, I was!! Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes. ) so I reckon my credit ratings shot to hell. Thanks Lynz, nothing really bad happened - just on a downer - bit angry for myself for cocking up again with the DD's for the end of last month (although chuffed that I rang up and paid mortgage before it went in arrears) ........Just feel like im treading water - i know what i should be doing but it seems like it's always just out of my reach, one little bit of nice news is that my dad gave me some money to fill my hanging baskets with flowers (wasnt going to bother this year - money saving etc.) but he paid for the plants for me and they look really nice so thats cheered me up a bit altough i keep putting a dampner on it by thinking what good are hanging baskets if you end up with no house to bloody hang em on??Focusing on clearing the credit cards in 2018 :T0

            Stop thinking that right now!!!
Things are getting noticibly better for you, dont let todays downer cloud what you have achieved.

Dotty, try not to feel to disheartened. It takes a while for everything to cross over to your new life! Although you've had your lightbulb moment it still takes a couple of months to straighten everything out so hang in there.
You are doing bloody brilliantly kid! Keep it up! 0 0
