Dotty I am so pleased. It is wonderful to think that there is a managable plan. The light at the end of the tunnel is now blinding and you need your shades on!!
The strength of character you have shown in sorting this out for your family and business will ensure that you pay the stuff of as quickly as you can manage. Funnily enough you realised in the middle of this that you could cover your own outgoings. I am so pleased that the site, forum and other agencies have all supported you so well. Think of me when you see lever arch files (we are about to move HIS could fill the garage with the things) .
I will raise a glass in your name if I haven't packed them all!!!!
    Take care,

Hey love, excellent news, too right that's a maximum! Bet you'll get it paid off quicker than that.

How do you feel? I'm guessing you'll feel great, this will be noticable to customers who will spend more, you'll earn more more, pay debt off quicker and then take us all out for a drink!! Am I right??!!
This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!

Hiya Pobby - yes to be honest SOME pressure off, however i still have to work hard to make the business pay us what we need to survive and pay its own debts and bills AND still sort out these books for 04-05, nevermind even 05-06!! so tbh still stressed but for other reasons!! dotty xxxx

Well folks.........been mega busy at the shop today :j - so thats gotta be a plus right? On a depressing note - got a letter from Inland Revenue re hubbys tax for 03/04 (when he was employed) to say he has underpaid by about £150 and needs to pay within 30 days!! It never rains but pours eh?? Not gonna let it get me down tho - me and hubby are gonna try to tackle to dreaded '04/05' books tomorrow to sort out the mess before re-submitting them to the accountant!!

I havent really even started my 05/06 books (well done about 1/2 of them!!:o ) but im gonna have to focus on the others first and then progress to these ones- i wish i'd had my lightbulb moment earlier - it may have made all the difference with my accounts and book keeping - altough to admit im dreading it - i have no confidence in myself in this area whatsoever!!!!

Well i also received my CCCS pack and am in the process of getting all the documentation together to send to them and also send the copy of the draft letter from the CCCS together with my covering letter to them - theres 11 in total so its gonna be a slog - but im determined to get em all done over the weekend and posted first thing monday morning - i start my DMP on 1st August so i need to get my finger out!!

One thing i though about asking - 9 out of 11 of the debts are under 1k - and about half of them are less than £500 - has anyone ever made a last ditch offer for full and final settlement with any creditor who when they find out that the debtor is going on a DMP and its gonna take 10 years to clear might be more inclined to take a reduction in settlement - ??? my barclay card and capital one are about £300ish each - what do you lot think??????

Dont think ive any mroe news exept my 2 eldest start high school this time and it's gonna cost a small fortune so ive gotta try to get some money from somewhere (money tree anyone??) to fund this lot?? any ideas??

    love dotty xx

  • Hi Dotty

I have been 'lurking' and following your 'blog' thingy for ages - I am so glad your appointment with the CCCS went well.

I have a huge amount of debt and was told that it would take me 11 years to payoff - oh dear will be so old by the time I am DF.

Anyway I think you are so organised completing all of your letters and sending details to CCCs so quickly - it took me a week to find the courage to do this (posted them yesterday). I think it was the fact that these letters are an admission of failure to manage finances and this is now in the open. Anyway I felt a huge sense of relief when they went and also for some strange reason more in contol and organised for the first time.

It is great to hear how you are coping - it really does inspire me to carry on and I am sure it does others as well.

    take care

Hiya methekidsandthecat (thats a gobfull!!) Thanks for your kind words, however im not THAT brave as i originally contacted the CCCS last September and then 'stupidly!!' though i could handle it myself - the really hard part form me is my self employment - if we dont make it we dont get paid it basically so im gonna try to work my pants off to pay myself what ive budgeted with the CCCS - i know they review it after 12 months anyway so hopefully the business will be doing a great deal better by then and i may be able to have a little increase (mmmmmmmmmm......we can keep our fingers, toes, knees etc crossed??).........

As you might think im organised - (i dont think i am) - im forcing myself to try to be - ive been burying my head in the sand long enough and need to get sorted - my business books are in a worse state than personal so ive got a long way to go yet!!

The CCCS said it would take me just under 10 years to pay off my debts - however im looking at this as a MAXIMUM !! You can pay off lump sums if you have them - also 10 years is a LONG time and anything could happend before then (lottery win 'please' lottery win?????????) i wish.................

Hope everything works out ok for you too!! keep me posted as to how youre coping - seems that we have a few things in common!!

    speak soon!!

    love dotty xx

Sorry mate, my turn to win lottery tonight.

Just want to say well done, girl. It can't be easy, and I know I see my debt as me failing in some way, but you've gone out and made the choice and you're a braver woman than I. We're all proud of you, love, and this is the start of you watching those numbers going down, down, down.

Well done, you should be proud. And don't stress about the books. It'll take time, but you have hubby to help and it's all just paper at the end of the day.
