Thanks for all the recommended reading you guys, maybe we should start a recommended reading thread and details books we've read, what it did to help us and the sort of people we would recommend them to? Like a DFW virtual book club I suppose?0

Smashing idea, Amos! I nominate YOU (and the rooster) to start it! What if the hokey cokey is what it's all about? :eek:Official "Bring back Mark and Lard NOW! or else (please)" Member 160 -
'So having Money to start with is the main source to 'Luck' in my eyes'
I have a bit of money, i'll swap it anyday for good health that's the sort of luck I would love.
If you have you health ANYTHING is possible
We all have times when everything seems to be going wrong and some of us deal with it better than others, that's what makes us human and diverse.
When was the last time you woke up and felt good just to be alive and hopefully healthy?
I didn't do it very often when I was healthy, wish I had.
Enough preaching, hopefully things will start to look up for you, you will look back and laugh some day
Like the night our bedroom ceiling collapsed on top of us ( me & hubbY)and it was all picture & no sound between us at the time. Seemingly I turned a grey colour and he left the room ( we had vacated to the living room by this stage) to make a cup of tea ( we call know a cup of tea makes everything better , I wish!)
He tooks ages to make the tea, but it was because he couldn't stop laughing at the fact that he knew I still wouldn't speak to him when he handed me the tea even in our moment of crisis. he said I looked grey and frightened but knew that I still wouldn't give in and speak to him.
he was in the wrong and knew it, I good friend related this to me many years later and we still laugh about it

It is so true that good health is the most important thing. Six years ago in my mid 40s i had a stroke while on holiday it wasnt major in the general scheme of strokes but i had to go into hospital. When i saw how strokes had affected other people in there it certainly made me feel lucky as i could have been so much worse.. Count your blessings i say there is always someone with a bigger problem to face than you have yoursef.0

When I read the title of this thread I found myself nodding in agreement..this is one of my favourite sayings
The answer to it though is a lot to do with a positive outlook on life...If I sat and listed all the negative things in my life I could not only write a book but would probably devour a large forest of paper while doing so :rotfl:
Small example..after surviving the easter hols relatively unscathed in the last week I blew my pc up (have nicked the boys one shhh) DS2 has scarlet fever  .OH learned he won't get bonus this year, and DS3 has shot up about a foot so needs new all new clothes/uniform(not budgeted for..)
I used to get really down..still do on rare occasions but now I think I'm probably just resigned to the fact that someone up theres having a bloomin good laugh at my expense
I think in the grand scheme of things all things happen for a reason..e.g my boys are all special but my AS son was given to me for a reason because he needed a 'special' mum..likewise my DS2 who is physically disabled..
Turning what so easily could be a negative for some into a positive is so much more rewarding :j
As Brian would say "Always look on the bright side of life doo doo doo doo do do do do... :rotfl: (how many peeps are going to hate me for getting THAT one stuck in their heads LOL)0 -

I don't disagree with you there. What I was saying was in response to someone (I am so sorry I cm too tired to go & read who it was), saying that bad things happen if you have a negative outlook.0 -
I'm gonna admit that I've stopped reading this thread.
Why? because I think it has been blown out of proportion a little. Now before you grab that baseball bat to hit me, let me explain.
The original poster (Bunnybaby) was feeling down & posted why.
I was also feeling down & also posted why.
Neither of us said that there are NOT other people worse off in the world. God my sister had 2 brain surgeries last year, after having had menigitus 4 times (in 4 years) and 2 cracks & 1 nice big hole in her skull. Eventually they took muscle from her leg to fill the hole in her skull. Now thinking like that, I personally I am lucky.
But sometimes, I think you need to feel down so you can feel better. I don't know if that makes sense to anyone. But being told that you are being negative is WHY you have bad things happen just does not make sense to me.
anyway reading threads like this where someone says what they feel and then gets critised for it, makes me wonder why I post here. Seriously thinking of deleting this from my favourites & not bothering.
Now thats how I feel. I wonder how many people will tell me I am stupid.
Message me if you really want to reply cos I don't think I can be bothered with this thread now.

Aw Ceri dont get upset the thing with these forums is a lot of people have different opinions and although most are put in a nice way sometimes there are posts we dont always agree with..Don't let it get to you hun :grouphug:
I think most people feel 'safe' in the DFW boards as we aren't as quick to criticise or judge people as on some boards :eek:0 -
I truly believe. that those who have replied. are just trying to help you look at your problems from a different angle, that's all. I'm sorry if you feel you have been unfairly critised.
What exactly did you expect people to say?0 -
I don't know if you'll read this but have you tried your house insurance if you have any? I tried on mine years ago for the boiler to be fied, but as it was a back boiler and going to cost alot they wouldn't do it, but worth a try for you.
I was without heating and hot water for 8 years. I eventually got a shower in just to be flooded by upstairs 5 times and forced to sell up and move.
Anyway moved and found out the shower cubicle here leaked to downstairs, and after 2 years I can't get any hot water , and ontop of that just had to borrow 250 pound to have my fire serviced and a part replaced after it had been giving out carbon monoxide and slowly killing myself with it - that could be called bad luck, and believe me I've moaned for England about it all - yes have a moan and a groan, but in the long run try and think of it as 'oh well, these things happen!' cos it wont change anything, but it might make you not worry so much about it.Official DFW Nerd 071/£2 saver=£10
