Ebay now misleading customers: Buy It Now -Immediate Payment Required

So now Ebay have set about misleading customers with changes on their website & what buyers are used to.

Ebay have had a website redesign & changed the new item page layout.

When items were listed as Buy It Now -Immediate Payment Required, they would show text Immediate Payment Required underneath the Buy It Now button.

(On standard Buy It Now you can pay later.)

Ebay for whatever reason don't show the text Immediate Payment Required anymore, so buyers don't know from the listing that immediate payment is required !!

Only when you click on the buy it now button, go to next page do you see that you have to complete payment through Paypal.

Probably because less people viewed & bought those Immediate Payment items compared to standard Buy It Now, where you can pay later.

So they now want to mislead/encourage more people to pay immediately, so sellers get paid quicker & ebay/Paypal get their commissions quicker.

They are also probably encouraging sellers to list by default using Immediate Payment Required option.

Very annoying.

It's sad to see the deterioration of ebay.

The details are under 'payment details', not really sure what's misleading, if someone wants to buy an item they click on buy now and pay.
Immediate payment required cuts out loads of hassle, I don't see what the benefit is of 'buying' something and making the seller wait a week for payment.

Ok, so they've hidden it there under a mouse click.

The benefit is choice, what suits you does not suit everyone else.
Paying later doesn't mean paying a week later, could be paying 1 hour later, later that day or 1-2 days later.

It's the way it's always been.

It's almost certain that the standard Buy It Now (pay later) items are viewed/bought more than items when listed with Immediate Payment Required text visible.

Ebay have decided to hide the Immediate Payment Required text.

Agreed, why would you use buy it now and not pay immediately? Lots of buyers before I set immediate payment! So annoying.

Why not ??

Choice for buyer, choice for seller.

Immediate Payment only came in last few years anyway.
There's no problem with paying later with standard Buy It Now.

It's just an excuse for ebay to push buyers through Paypal quicker.

And that's not the problem.

The problem is ebay have hidden that Immediate Payment is Required.

If you knew that your items were more likely to sell with standard Buy It Now pay later, you might change your view.

It's a simple fact that I & many others would more likely look at & buy items with standard Buy It Now.

Its your opinion, I wouldn't say it was a fact. I think there are quite a few things you can have a go at Ebay for changing/introducing, just think this is a weak target.

If all fixed price payments were immediate there'd be less problems for sellers. You can put the items into your 'watched' items and pay when you're ready as you can with shopping cart on Amazon.

The only problem I can foresee here is if you don't want to pay with Paypal.

Of course it's a fact.

It's obvious, unfortunately we don't have the stats, ebay does.

Just seeing the old page item text Immediate Payment Required will discourage viewers/buyers.

It eye & decision contact to get buyer to proceed to next step.

Hide the text, more people will look at item, click Buy Now & simply as consequence continue to pay immediately rather than back out.

But you don't know that they would sell better. Just because you like to buy an item where you don't have to pay immediately doesn't mean everybody does.

Would you expect to order an item of another site and pay as and when you feel like it within a 7 day period? No, so why ebay?

I don't quite understand why anyone though would click on a BIN and go ahead to buy if they were merely looking at the auction. I really can't see the fact that it doesn't say which are immediate payment and which are not would put people off.
