I know what she meant.......... you are a man and don't understand the 'ish' thing... :D

But I really don't want the OP to go for the smart........

We've got two cars in at the mo.. well I nearly pee'd myself when saw them this morning. . .. .... .... daren't post about them as may not be good for the company - but beggars belief..

I second that - try and go for about '06 onwards as they have that nice 'bull-ish' nose on the front of them... more male hairdresser than female hairdresser... :D I drove one and loved it. Best roadster.

but not for £3000, for that kind of money it will be an older model. the mx5 holds its money very well.

For £2K-£3K I think the answer is a Mazda MX-5.
    The Honda S2000 is £4K+

Someone please show me a roadworthy S2000 for £4000. I would suggest what many others have, an MX5. And I prefer the pop-up lights. And it's rear wheel drive, conclusively proving that despite the looks, it's not a girls car! Once the OP has sorted out her budget (yes around a couple means around 2, 4 is twice 2 so not 'around'!). Only other suggestions I can thing of are MGF/MGTF, Toyota MR2 or Celica, maybe a Honda Integra, or look for a cheap GTi which would keep it more practical, which you maybe don't want. I had a Nissan Almera GTi, and despite what you may think, it was awesome.

Well £4K is scrapping the bottom of the barrel with the oldest one going, something decent you want to own would fall into the £4K+ category ;)

... and I had a Primera GT at one time which had incredible handling but in time unacceptable harsh ride. I loved it for a while, but the styling of the Almera / Primera leaves too much to be desired to fit the "mid-life crisis" bill IMO. Something sexier needed I think.
