Welcome to Emmwri and Chikadee - hope you enjoy it here. Emmwri - hope your back is getting better. You have your hands full with two little ones!
Chikadee - don't beat yourself up trying to be all OS if you are working full time. It's not easy trying to cook from scratch after a long day at work. Try the 'bedrock' recipe, though, because it won't take too long. If you make it at the weekend, or on a day off during the week if you have one, you will soon see how handy it is to have something ready to finish off after work. Making in bulk doesn't take any longer than just doing one portion at a time; OK, there's a bit more peeling and prepping, but the time, convenience, and money-saving is well worth it. You're doing great growing your own veggies so you're already pretty OS, anyway! Also, although you won't feel like it, try making your lunchtime sandwich the night before, then it will be ready to take with you when you leave for work.
Thanks for the warm welcome mioliere. Yes you are right, scratch cooking after work would mean not eating until about 9pm, so that isn't really possible. What I really need to do is have a plan of what we are going to have. I find the worst bit is deciding what to make. Once I have decided, I just get on with it. If I had some bedrock starters in the freezer, I could get one out the night before to thaw, then converting, for example, braised mince into a chilli wouldn't be too much of a push.
As far as the sanwiches go, during term time I do this religiously as DS has sandwiches for school lunch and it is as easy to make two sets as one. When it is just me I am making for, I confess to being a bit lazy!Sealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90

Hi all
Got home to find DD (who has had swine flu all week) white as a sheet again with big black circles under her eyes looking shocking!! And this is the 4th day of her Tamiflu. She is back in bed again now, feeling dizzy and generally poorly. Poor love has had an awful week (it was her birthday Tuesday - showed her all the good wishes from you lovely lot and that at least cheered her up:A) She was supposed to be going away for the weekend with her boyfriend and friends as part of her birthday treat but that just isn't going to happen now. She can always go another week.
just a quickie - DH was ill for 7 days and on tamiflu for the 5 days dosage. If you are feeling worse after 7 days, then the advice is to go to GP. Sorry she is having such a hard time of it - it really is nasty and seems to go on and on. I sometimes thought I was better but then felt ill again. It's a week ago since I had it and I'#ve been kind of ok last couple of days and even drove down to the common with the dogs late yesterday evening. Lots and lots of rest, loads of drinks and paracetamol - those things help. Lots of hugs and kind words too - that helped me, although I had to prompt DH as only the 2 of us here at the mo and we both had it.

Hi, can I join you?
I've been an MSE lurker for a long time, but have only just recently started posting.
Am supposed to be packing for a camping weekend, but keep manaaging to avoid it... Sat down for a while to watch Economy Gastronomy on iplayer and knit some more of my daughter's cardigan, then a friend popped round with the village show programme so I had a read of that, then I decided to make banana bread with my eldest son to use up some ripe bananas, so I still haven't done any packing!0 -
afternoon!
welcome to Emmwri and chickadee
Nic - I would call the doctor about your DD - she really should be feeling better after 4 days on tamiflu not worse.(((hugs))) to her, hope she feels better soon.
my headache has just about gone now - hope the others who have one feel better too.
I'm just having a rest after mowing the lawns - boiling hot out there:j and thankfully no signs of a basking grass snake!
I've made a list of the freezer contents etc and made a meal plan for next week plus a shopping list for later - I always used to do this but have slipped lately. It is nice knowing whats for tea - and DH can always make a start if I'm late home.Fingers crossed I can stick to the list!:DDo what you love :happyhear0 -

Afternoon all,
Up and out early to-day....Sile had to be in vets before 9 to be neutered....very young but she has been behaving in a MOST unseemly manner with her brother, so vet said bring her in and we will put a stop to her gallop....or words to that effect! She can come home about 7pm.
Didn't sleep well last night, not sure why but was so flattened when I came back from vet's that I went back to bed for a couple of hours....had 'breakfast' at almost 1pm. Spent some time looking for my phone which went missing yesterday evening, asked all round at about 2 and DGS2 said 'you left it in my room when you read a story last night'...have told him to let me know in future!
Should do the packing for Kerry but not in humour....seems to hit about an hour before bedtime....we are planning on leaving around 8 or earlier if I can persuade the other adults, children not a problem. Hope we have reasonable weather as the beaches are great and very safe too.
Dinner to-night will be cottage pie but without mash as I feel that it is a shame to mash new potatoes, will just have them steamed on the side. DD4 was out with friends last night so left her car where they were, going to bring her to get it in a bit and do a little shopping on way back. Must remember to bring knitting to Kerry and a couple of books for bed-time reading, not much night club activity where we'll be. DD2 is getting very excited as this is where she spent all her childhood holidays and hasn't been back in about 10 years.
Lovely to see you back Smoky, good to know that you and the Smokelets are doing well, you deserve some good times, all of you.
See you all in a few days, welcome to newbies, hugs to all who are not feeling well for whatever reason.

Hi Guys!
Smokey-Missed you!! Glad you are okay. Sometimes people do say things on here that is difficult to understand, but I suppose we are all imperfect and say/do horrible things at times. Hugs to you all xx
OH had to take the pup to the vets today as he had a wound on his tummy. It looked like a gun shot wound, but it turned out to be where a stick had impailed him. He charges around like a typical toddler and must have run into itHe had to have a jab, cleaning solution and anti-biotics for the next 5 days. It was the PDSA OH took him too and they saw him within 20 mins:TThe bill given was charged at £23 but they rely on contributions and although we qualify for free help, OH gave the £20 he had in his pocket as they had been great. The pup seems happy enough but has slept alot today.
I listed 20 books or so on Amazon and metropolis and have sol 4 already. I also sold 20 DVD's that we had knocking around.
Mealplans have been done for the next week and have an Asda shop coming Wednesday. They have an offer on a wine OH likes normally £8 a bottle and they are doing it 3 for £10. I also was sent a £10 voucher code, so managed to save £55 on savings, free delivery and the voucher:j:j This is a big order for me (£85), so I hope its all okay.
2 washloads done today and the cleaner has been, so house nice and sparkly.
Healthwise nothing much has changed. I am due back at the hospital next week for more tests, my immune system is non-existent atm and have had kidney infections. My drugs have been increased and they have given me extra steroid injections this week on top of the daily ones already being taken. Anyway, I wont go on about it. Just feeling a little sorry for myself.
I hope everyone is ok and if I have missed anything important....sorry:o
DD has been out with her friends and is going away with her friend next week, so we should have a couple of quiet nights:D
Anyway, take care everyone.
Twink-Hugs!
