  • There are two supermarket type shops; one on site and one opposite, there is a chip shop outside the site on the left as you leave or right as you enter, there is also a pub selling meals close by. The food on site is the usual fast food fare with similar prices to mc d's and bk. There is a restaurant on site selling reasonably priced meals. Do not leave valuables on show in your chalet as when I was there last year a couple of chalets were broken into, best to draw your curtains when not in then no one can tell if you are there or not. There have been bad reviews on this site and others about Camber pontins but I think it depends on what type of chalet you stay in, obviously budget being worst, I brought a pack of anti bacterial wipes with me to wipe clean surfaces as the cleaners weren't up to much. The closest town is Rye where the train stops, from here you can catch a bus right to outside the centre, I think they do family/day tickets which would be cheaper. There is a market in town a couple of times a week. I think the pontins welcome pack probably contains pontins pounds which a usually discount vouchers for various food and drink items, which work out better if you like alcohol. Someone else will probably be able to advise you on this. Its a lovely area and often there are leaflets which give you cheap day trips to france, the train goes from Rye as well.
  • Thanks for your reply, I booked the classic accomm rather than the budget! We were after a cheap holiday so hope it works out that way, I saw the bad reviews but think or hope they are aimed at the budget accomm I will take some antibacterial stuff dont worry!!!!!!!!

I got the train tickets from manchester to rye for all 4 of us for £52.55 thought that was a bargain!

    Hello :D

:D Re: the pontins pounds you can use them on food and drink in the bars and restaurents, and character stuff ONLY in the shops, ie, Zena the Zebra stuff, etc. There is a minimart in the main building (go through the arcade) and a main shop on the outsite (a Nisa today). You will need to get electricity tokens unless you can staying in club. You can get them from the shops (although you may have to wait as only certain people within Nisa can issue them).

There is a market in Rye on Thursday which gets busy, but that's already been covered.

    Hope this helps

The beach there is fab, I used to live in Lydd and when I wasnt working would run along the sea front from Lydd to Camber and then spend the rest of the day at the beach there (bus home coz I was usually too tired to run back, lol).
Sorry I'm not alot of help about the Pontins as I never went up there, but if you want to get out theres plenty to see if you get the bus to other sea front villages/towns (except Lydd as its a hole).
It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.
