    Hi

I have a 10 month old boy. I would have loved one of these cuddles robes - link above. As its so hard being a new parent and trying to wrap baby in a towel and they are great when they are older as they keep you dry. As for me personally I would have loved a voucher to get my nails done or my hair done as we were broke, but make sure it has a long expirary date as she might not want to leave the baby until its older. Also Im a chocolate fiend so nice choccies went down well.

I got my sister a voucher for a local beautician, and I looked after my nephew, she got a couple of hours pampering and got to leave the house alone, without sick on her shoulder! She was made up!
  • My DS is 9 months old and the most amazing present I got was a Morrck Hoodie, something I had never heard of. They are a type of jacket but do up around the car/pram seat so if you go into a shop, say, and it gets too hot, you can take the coat off without moving or disturbing the baby. It's hard to describe, the website does it better, but has been invaluable. They are about £30 though, although you can get them cheaper sometimes on ebay.

    Hiya,

The most unusual thing my daughter got (which I bought myself to give to my her haha!) was a pram plate. I've just ordered one for my 10week old son, they are really nice and it was an unusual thing to have on a pram!

I was bought a just baked, still warm Dorset Apple Cake which after having terrible heartburn and little appetite was pure bliss. Great for Breast Feeding calories too.
Too many children, too little time!!!

What was the best/nicest gift you received from anyone?
Clothes for age 6-12 months (instead of newborn size). Only one person did that, which was really thoughtful.

Would you yourself like a gift of body lotions or alcohol? (After all, most mums haven't really drunk much for 9 months)
If the mom will be breastfeeding and you think she'd like a drink, then a nice breast-pump would be better than the alcohol (as she won't be able to drink it unless she can express some milk for use when she's drinking). I've had Philips Avent, MAM and Lansinoh manual pumps and I like the Lansinoh one best - it has the fewest parts and is really easy to clean and put together.

This would only be of use if the baby was called Sean. :)

My cousin and his wife had a baby boy and called him Sean. I copied John Lennon's Beautiful (Darling Boy) onto a CD and slipped it in with his proper present. Everyone loved that and I got more comments about that than I did about the present lol. It's a beautiful song and at the end John Lennon whispers 'goodnight Sean'. The last verse also mentioned Sean a few times. They recorded a home video and put this song in the backround.

    What is a Boy?

Between the innocence of babyhood and the dignity of manhood,
we find a delightful creature of a boy.
Boys come in assorted sizes, weights and colors.
But all boys have the same creed: to enjoy every second of
every minute of every day and to protest with noise
(their only weapon) when their last minute is finished and
the adult males pack them off to bed at night!
Boys are found everywhere: on top of, underneath, inside of,
climbing on, swinging from, running around, or jumping to.
Mothers love them, little girls hate them, older sisters
and brothers tolerate them and adults ignore them. A boy is
truth with dirt on its face, beauty with a cut on its finger,
wisdom with bubble gum in its hair, and the hope of the
future with a frog in its pocket. When you are busy, a boy
is an inconsiderate, bothersome, intruding jungle of noise.
When you want him to make an impression, his brain turns
into jelly or else he becomes a jungle creature, bound on
destroying the world, and himself with it. A boy is a
composite. He has the appetite of a horse, the digestion
of a sword-swallower, the imagination of Paul Bunyan, the
energy of a pocket-size atomic bomb, the curiosity of a
cat, the shyness of a violet, the audacity of a steel trap,
the enthusiasm of a fire cracker, and when he make something,
he has five thumbs on each hand. He likes ice cream,
movies, Christmas, comic books, the boy across the street,
woods, water in its natural habitat, large animals, trains,
Saturday mornings, and fire engines. He is not much for
Sunday school, composing, music lessons, neckties, barbers,
    girls, overcoats, adults or bedtime.
Nobody else is so early to rise or so late to supper.
Nobody else gets so much fun out of trees, dogs, and
breezes. Nobody else can cram into one pocket a rusty
    knife, a half-eaten apple, 3 feet of string, 2 gumdrops, a
five-cent slingshot, a chunk of unknown substance, and one
supersonic code ring with a secret compartment. A boy is
a magical creature - you can lock him out of your workshop,
but you can't lock him out of your heart! You can get him
out of your study, but you can't lock him out of your mind!
Might as well give up! He is your captor, your jailer,
your boss, and your master. But when your dreams tumble
down and the world is a mess, he can put together the broken
pieces in just a twinkle with a few magic words...I LOVE YOU!

I love this one - it could have been written about DS and he's still only 3!!

    Jxx
And it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end

The best present I got was a voucher for a massage & facial - blissful.............

Babywise, I think the nappycakes are great idea. You can incorporate useful things like nappies and muslins, with a teddy.
