Anyone Recently Had a Baby Boy?

I think any sort of hamper for mum would be appreciated. Chocs, biscuits, a bottle of wine (even if BFing, she'll be able to have a glass or two), fruit - a selection of things maybe?
I wouldn't personally buy anything too personal like a breast pump - referring to a previous post here - I'd let the mum do that herself. Could get her some Boots vouchers so she could choose exactly what she/baby needs.
And I love the boy poem! As a mum of two boys, it totally sums them up.

I had a little baby boy

Welcome gifts for me were things like a lovely fluffy dressing gown, lots of chocolate and the absolute best ever present was the one my sister gave me - stacks upon stacks of ready-made meals that she'd cooked and stored in takeaway containers, labelled and came round one day and plonked in my freezer. I swear I could have cried!
Everyone knows what it's like when you have a newborn and her doing that helped out soooo much - the fact she'd done them in individual size portions was great as well because it meant that if me and OH were taking turns with the baby, we could both have our food, warm, when we had the time to cook it. It also helped that she is a great cook!Dealing with my debts!Currently overpaying Virgin cc -balance Jan 2010 @ 1985.65Now @ 703.63

I bookmarked this as I want to get it for my baby boy for xmas. It's not cheap but I thought it would make a good keepsake. It has a pullcord and plays 'lullaby'.0

That is so thoughtful. Id have loved that when I had my babies. Although I must admit my mum cooked a lot for us and even hoovered my house and changed beds etc for us. These things really help.
My brother and his wife live 2 hours away so I can't really pop in with things for them. Also, I think things like breast pumps are a bit too personal to buy for people (she already has one anyway).
I was thinking of sending something lovely through the post and the idea of the photo shoot is really nice. However, my parents went to see their new grandson on Saturday and I went with them. So on Friday I dashed into town and bought a box of Thorntons and some nice blue baby clothes in the second size. They loved the little baby dungarees I bought and, as he is nearly 9lb, Im sure it won't be long before they fit him! My brother is quite well off (they had their baby in the same hospital that Paul McCartney had his baby with Heather!) but I think offers of help are always welcome.
Thanks for the ideas folks. Its been lovely reading about everyone's experiences and gift ideas.0 -
Hand cream is good as you are forever washing your hands with a baby around.
Also dvd's for the endless hours sat feeding
