Eon Misleading Quotes? Please Help!

  • Hi disgrunted,

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. :)

The information I provided earlier in this thread, is still accurate. The sales tool used by our field sales agents does include other suppliers’ discounts.

This has been the case in the past as well.

As I mentioned before, because suppliers have no obligation to send price information to other companies, it is up to the supplier to request prices from others.

Hence if E.ON didn’t request pricing info from Scottish Power, our quotes against Scottish Power tariffs would be inaccurate.

However this isn’t the case and we do have the information from all the other suppliers, meaning our sales tools are accurate.

    Brian :)
well................. if as you say the sales tool is accurate, please explain how eon quoted a saving of £180ish then the website says £12 when there is no changes in price or discounts?

The sales tool itself is accurate but the field sales agent's use of the tool might be a little more ... 'creative'? :rotfl:

    Hi disgrunted,

Again everyone I speak to regarding this says the sales tool includes the discount structure of the current supplier, so the figure quoted should have been accurate.

I’ve been crunching some figures as you did in your earlier post and I get the same results, so I can’t explain why we have a difference now if all the circumstances are the same and the discounts are included.

Give me a little time to do some investigating into this, I want to be able to answer this as accurately as possible and figure out why there’s a difference. I want to try and get hold of the information built in to the website and the sales tool so I can see for myself, this may be take me a while to get however. :)

I will get back to everyone on this thread as soon as I can shed some light on this. Thanks for your patience. :T

    Brian,

Thanks for your help with this. I have also been doing some digging and have made an alarming discovery.

I managed to speak to someone who works in Eon's support team about this (I think they may have thought I was one of their sales team... don't know where they got that idea! ;)) and after a little gentle probing they were able to confirm that whilst discounts are now included, this wasn't always the case. They said that over the last few months they have been going through all the products of each of their competitors that they have on their computers and amending them so that discounts are included. This process is almost complete, although there may still be a few older products no longer sold by competitors which have still to be updated.

Pretty shocking to hear don't you think?

At least I know the truth now. Eon have previous been gaining business by ignoring competitor discounts to make their products look cheaper than they actually are! On the positive side they have seen that this is wrong and done something about it, although this doesn't help the numerous people who will already have been conned.

I'm sure if you speak to the right people Brian they will be able to confirm this to you too, although whether or not they will want you to pass this information on to us here is another matter!
