Eon Misleading Quotes? Please Help!

disgrunted wrote: »hey mr big,
are you sure it was £180 and not £18, have to ask that question as i went and did the quotes on eon page as you described and get the same answers. I feel someone is certainly mistaken here, I cant see no logic in the quotes being so different now compared to a few weeks ago as there has been no changes in rates or discounts from either supplier, so you have either been misled or misquoted by Eon. Just for your info i have also put same figures into confused.com and get a saving of £84.51 for energy discount 4 but cant see track and con (as you call it), and on uswitch track and save will save you £110.56, I have done these quotes based in a area 18 region (south west scotland) and there may be slight differences in other parts of the uk. 1 quite important thing to note here is Eon website shows a saving of £12 uswitch shows a saving of £110.56, clearly uswitch dont include discounts ( i do not know the exact amount of discounts from scottish power). If you are certain that you with your own eyes seen a saving of £180(ish) and you are sure the pretty sales rep didnt con you into seeing something that wasnt actually there, I would guess that at some point eon also didnt take into account supplier discounts. Its a minefield out there and the only sure people that dont get ripped off are the energy companies.
I have also done test quotes with other suppliers then compared them to 3rd party sites and dont get the same answers (when we really should expect them to be the same) Eon is the only one whos website is showing a lot less of a saving. My own opinion is that no one filters into the equation other supplier discounts apart from eon, maybe they have just implemented this policy, (its the only logical answer to your query) Hats off to them if thats the case, an honest utility supplier woohoo!!
Also worth noting here is that the eon moderator here has stated that they have not changed there sales tool, so the bad news is after all this typing we are now back to square 1. Good luck in finding out the answer cos as the yorkshire men say well oil beef ocked
Some excellent points raised there. Thanks for taking the trouble to compare the quotes for me (you're probably off work skiving, lol).
I can confirm that the pretty sales rep did not con me into seeing something that was not there. Whether she meant to or not, she did con me though and I think Eon must have seen me coming over the hill. I can also confirm that the rep was far from pretty, although she did have a massive pair of knockers and some rather sexy footwear (some people are into that kind of thing you know ).
I think I'm going to have to give up on this one. As you rightly said, logic dictates that Eon have changed their policy recently with regard to including discounts, but there's no chance of them admitting to this, even though the change makes their quotes more accurate, albeit less competitive.
I've had it with all this. I think I'll just switch to someone like nPower. I live at the bottom of a 5 storey block of flats and I hear that the ground floor discounts they're offering right now are excellent! :rotfl:0 -

Perhaps you can!!! I don't trust folks like yourself you see. Since you've been in the industry, perhaps you can answer some more questions for me:
1. How many companies in the industry have you worked for?
2. What's the biggest lie you've ever told anyone (Come on, I'm sure you did it too!)?
3. What's the funniest thing you've ever told anyone?
4. Have you ever signed up a castle?
5. !!!!!! is with the name "disgrunted"? Are you just some thicko that can't spell "disgruntled"?

hmmm,
i realy thought someone from eon would try to confirm or deny my theory, is the fact they chose to ignore this actually an admission of guilt that they actually misled customers by not including discounts, retrospectively it is also a pat on the back that they are actually being more transparent.
I await with bated breath on a reply0 -
Hi disgrunted,
Sorry for not getting back to you sooner.
The information I provided earlier in this thread, is still accurate. The sales tool used by our field sales agents does include other suppliers’ discounts.
This has been the case in the past as well.
As I mentioned before, because suppliers have no obligation to send price information to other companies, it is up to the supplier to request prices from others.
Hence if E.ON didn’t request pricing info from Scottish Power, our quotes against Scottish Power tariffs would be inaccurate.
However this isn’t the case and we do have the information from all the other suppliers, meaning our sales tools are accurate.
