Picked one up in Derby (Staples next to PC World) this morning. 3 left in store (lady in store said they had never sold any before!). Colleague at work was interested until his asf file format vid's from his mini DV cam wouldn't play with sound and you need to re encode DVD's to divx or similar to watch DVD's. Still a bargain at £99 though, very versatile but not perfect.

Vid of it in action here:

as far as I can see the adaptor is not a cf card type, its a pmcia type plug which allows all card types to go in it at the other end.
a compact flash card will fit without the adaptor. i copied my pics over that way.

See my mini review in post #24. The 3rd pic shows a compact flash in the slot :)

having never used a compact flash, I did'nt know they were so thick and were almost the size of a pmcia.

If you took a cm or two off the pc card (new name for pmcia) then you could plug the card in and it would stick out about 10cm once fully inserted as it's around 2.5 times the size of a CF ;)

So def a CF card slot LOL

I can see now.........its just tha I never knew that cf cards were so thick, and connected in such a way, I'm used to mmc ,memorystick and sd cards.

To me, never having used a cf card, it looked weired.

Purchased two Flashtrax XT 40 gb models in Staples Salisbury yesterday at 3pm. They came with the media adapters and Scart adapter. Staples had a further four left after my purchase.

Their phone number is 01722 341675

Re the firmware download, should the file extension be .bin or .rar as I seem to have downloaded both but the Upgrade procedure only refers to the .bin

I've just tried connecting mine to my TV, but the picture's only showing in black and white. I'm able to record onto the device from my TV in colour, but when outputting, the picture is always in black and white. Has anyone else had this? Could it be the lead? I've tried two different Scart adapters but the problem's the same. I don't want to take it back if I can help it as I'm pretty sure this was the last one in the store!
