I can soon let you know how the claim process goes with ecar. I got hit by a guy who ran a red light last night and my car is a write off. So far so good with every department ive spoken to and they have returned calls when they said they would. I have a courtesy car arriving at my home tommorrow which i get to keep until 7 days after the cheque comes through the post, they have even put my fella on the insurance on the courtesy car! Cant fault them so far and my insurance was quite a wad cheaper than any other quote i got when i was looking around.0

They were the cheapest for me at 26, new male driver, inner city area with highish crime coming in at £100 cheaper than any others. Remember to select third party fire theft, you will get a quote for both tpft and third party only then (tpft was cheaper for me). If your car is worth a bit, then try fully comp and as suggested above play with the excess.
AFAIK quidco has £40 cashback. Not much but better than nothing.
Also for money off see my thread here in the referrers board http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=495433
As for the comment above on calling in and getting a different quote, that's because confused.com etc ask for different details to the one's the insurers want, so it's only an approximation. The site actually states this. With ecar it's all done online with no need to call up, give all the correct details and you're insured.
When I get the renewal coming up I will be searching for more quotes though.0 -
Quick update:
Was in accident on Thurs night, spoke to ecar yesterday and they said my coursity car would arrive today between 11am and 1pm. Doorbell rang at 8:30am and there was a lady handing me the keys for a mazda 6 sport which i get to keep until after i get the cheque! Yay!0 -
Hey guys
Merry Bleedin' Christmas...! A suicidal deer threw itself infront of my car on a country lane this morning, with a car coming the other way i had no choice but to take the deer out - or else ruin someone else's christmas and their car!
Needless to say, though i know i made the right choice my car didnt think so. My Clio is now minus its bumper, spot lights, drivers side head light and radiator connections (i hope - its leaking so i assume so) and undrivable = courtesy car 4 days before xmas....
Ecar were good on the claim line, very helpful and have been assured a recovery vehicle will be along within 3 hours to pick it up and assess it to see if its drivable. Since its a no fault accident, it will be interesting to see how the courtesy car issuing will be dealt with.
I'll keep you updated in how it goes since there isnt many claim stories on here, it'll be good for everyone to see if cheap also equals a good service.
If they deal with this efficiently over xmas, then i'd say its a thumbs up all round, but dont hold your breath!

Just so you all know. Since May this year Ecar no longer do the free breakdown cover! But their prices are still the cheapest. I took my insurance out with them in Jan 07 (hubby May 07 renewal) and I still have breakdwon cover until Jan 08.
The breakdwon was RAC highest level and the service was great (had to use them 3 months ago!)0 -
Hi guys
An update on the suicidal deer vs the Clio claim. The car was picked up within two hours, and although they said i couldt have a courtesy car before xmas due to the volume of cars they have to look at to qualify for a replacement car, i gently but firmly insisted on them organising it for me, as i cant be without one for xmas. Within 10 mins i was called back and informed i could have one and it would be delivered today when they havea spare driver
I'm chuffed with this company, they have a few bad reviews but i can safely say, they are doing their very best for me.

The breakdown cover comes and goes, I had it added to my Pay as You go policy, which wasn't helpful as the car was 21 years old and you could only claim if your car was under 10. This was in September.
Then yesterday I got a new quote and it has been removed again. Strange.0 -
Thanks to OP for link but no good for me I'm afraid. Just had my own renewal through and ecar quote is almost double and did include breakdown cover which I don't need. So no doubt their quote included the cost of this cover. My renewal £115.50, ecar quote £224 same excess etc.
It's a pity a cheaper quote cannot be supplied after an opt out of breakdown cover but I doubt they could match my renewal even then.0 -
Thinking about going with them, the quote I have through !!!!!!!!! was very competitive including the breakdown cover. Is the breakdown cover the 'Pay & Reclaim' type?0
